Thanks for your useful info on travelling to the US for the first time.
Just one question: Can I pay the $14 fee on the site using a Visa debit card?
I have never had a credit card and do not wish to have one.

You can use a debit card although you will be charged a conversion fee usually depending on the bankI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

Odds on you will need a credit card in the US. Car Hire, hotels and so on
Halifax Clarity is the one that is generally recommended as there are no charges for using it abroad0 -

A credit card is a near essential for the USA.
The Halifax Clarity is a very good call - as is the current offer on Barclaycard Platinum Travel Card.
