But that descriptor is about making and planning journeys, not just going outside. I can put the bin out on my own most weeks. My psychiatrist, the Upper Tribunal Judge and the rep for the Secretary of State did not consider this to be making a journey. The latter two agreed to award me F because when I make journeys I need to be accompanied, even though I can go as far as my gate alone most bin days.

Going into the garden is absolutely a wonderful first step, especially after 10 years trapped indoors, but PIP awards are based on your condition at the time you were assessed, not on your potential future condition after further treatment. You are currently unable to make any journeys. I really do hope you continue to make progress and can do so in the future. (I'm currently going in the opposite direction, so I'm absolutely sympathetic to what you're going through.)

I think it's best if I stop commenting now, as I'm concerned that I'm upsetting you (this is the last thing I want to do). I just wanted you to understand that you're effectively going to be arguing against 10 years of evidence for E using evidence that F might be more appropriate in the future, which is probably why the people you spoke to before suggested focussing on the daily living descriptors in your appeal.

Don't worry, you aren't upsetting me - I will make the argument and see what happens, I want to at least try.

It's such an unfair system, I don't understand the rationale behind it. Why are people who can travel to the supermarket somehow more deserving of people who can't?
