My throat is still picky but I'm determined not to be ill over easter so I'm taking Paracetamol to try to keep it at bay.

Lots of Vit C and zinc is what you need. Paracetamol does very little as a prophylactic.

My sister phoned me last night and told me that PayPlan had been in touch with her and that they advised her to do a DMP. Apparently she can't start the DMP for another 2 months as 2 of her loans are new loans and if she defaults in the first 3 months she'll be done for fraud :( so she's got to continue with those payments and offer token payments to her other creditors. It will take her 33 years to pay off her debt, IF creditors freeze interest and charges and accept her DMP. This scared the life out of me as it could quite easily have been me had I not found you guys here and had such support and determination to clear my debts.

Ooh, flipping heck. How is she taking that?

Oh GR...I don't know what to say about your sis. I know you'll be worrying about her but the best thing is at least you can show her loads of moneysaving ways to make her journey a bit easier. Mind you...there is that saying 'you can take a horse to water but you can't make it drink' just hope she sees how well you've done and that may give her a bit of hope and inspiration.
Now GR I have to post this...I've had a little look see in the stuff I've got regarding your poorly throat and colour healing and here's some of it...
    'Using Blue'
Because blue governs the throat, infections in this area are psychologically related to not speaking out. The blue personality hates arguments and often resorts to coughing and spluttering to avoid confrontation. The colour blue will help clear this by counteracting the deep internal terror of letting it all 'spill out'...
If you visualise the colour blue around your throat or have a blue scarf you can wear...well who knows, it might ease it. Worth a try?
Also GR have you been biting your lip were your sister is concerned, maybe if you have there could be 'something' in the above info.
Or, as I'm sure some would say, you just have a sore throat and it'll get better lol
Hope you feel better soon and absolutely brilliant that you've achieved your ISA target for this month. (I am right in that aren't I?)
    Catch you later.

Thanks Wendy, ZTD and Diz. Not feeling too bad since I've come home from work but thanks for all your concern, as for Sis, she appears to be taking it in her stride because for the first time in years she will actually have money for the gas and electricity and food and school dinners!!!!! Personally speaking I'd be gutted if it was me. 33 years is an awful long time.

I have been worrying about her but I've lost count of the times I've tried to bail her out, I think she's quite gutted that I haven't fallen for it again but quite frankly I'm sick to death of helping her out constantly. For the first time since I got divorced 5 years ago I've got money in the bank, I can afford to take the kids to the pictures or out for the day or to treat myself and I'm going to be selfish and keep it for myself.

Every penny I've ever borrowed I've paid back and some months it's been really hard, as all of the people on here can appreciate. By paying it back myself and struggling it's made me appreciate being debt free. So she's going to have to sort herself out. That sounds so selfish of me doesn't it?

On a positive note I've sold another 4 of DS's games today so they'll be in the post tomorrow morning and off to their new owners and I've also had a letter off the Halifax acknowledging that I'm not prepared to accept the offer they have made me. I don't want them to acknowledge it, I want them to pay me out!!!!! Nothing in the post from Egg though. I've got no patience whatsoever, I think that I'm the only complaint they have to deal with.

Hey GR that doesn't sound selfish at all, sounds like good money management to me and putting the interests of your own family first.
You've done your best and you tried to help. What more could you have done?

Whoa! Let's look at a few things in isolation here.
    1. Did you refusing to bail her out, force her onto the DMP?
    2. Quote: "she appears to be taking it in her stride because for the first time in years she will actually have money for the gas and electricity and food and school dinners!!!!!"
    3. Quote: "I think she's quite gutted that I haven't fallen for it again"

So - to recap. You think she's gutted that you've forced her to something that means she now has enough money for food?

There's some vital part of logic missing there.

Thanks guys, I know what your saying. She is making me feel guilty for 'forcing her down this route' but she's in £33K of debt, there is no way I can help her out again.

I feel as though by going into a DMP she's facing up to her problems and is working with a budget that is tailor made to her situation.

Well we've made the easter log (and the kids have eaten half of it already) and I've had a lovely hot bath, don't feel like anything for tea though as I've been stuffing rubbish all day and I'm going to lie on the settee, catch up with the threads on here, watch the soaps and pack up the Amazon parcels for posting tomorrow.

But you *did* help her out. Forestalling problems is not helping. Solving problems is helping.

Good morning all, well so much for my early night. Didn't actually get to sleep until half past midnight so I feel like absolute sh1te this morning. Got black bags under my eyes, my head is pounding and I feel really sick. Isn't it amazing what lack of sleep can do to you.

Saying that I got up this morning and I've sold another book so I've got another 5 packages to post off this morning.

Only today and tomorrow in work and I can't wait to have a long weekend off. Really don't feel like work today but I've got to pull myself together and go in.

The weather is dry but cold so I'm going to pop some washing on the line before work and hopefully it'll be dry by the time I come home. Managed to dry loads yesterday, just got to iron it all now :(
