Electrician concerned has phoned me now and was trying to get extra money from me!!!
Anyway - an agreement has been reached between us (nope - no extra money!). I am keeping this LH Scheme posted on this.
.....and I do thank you Dafty for your help on this - as it has helped to clarify matters and resolve this.0 -

I knew the light switch for the room had to be changed to incorporate a switch for the under cupboard lights. That was the extent of my knowledge/expectations re kitchen electrics with the new kitchen.
After it was done I looked at it and thought "Wonder what those 2 switches there are?" on the wall by cooker and realised they were sort of on/off switches for the hob and oven (aka isolator switches). The first I knew about the missing 3rd one was when new electrician asked where it is. Until then I hadnt realised there is supposed to be a 3rd one - so assumptions I didnt want it in sight are wrong. I have the other 2 in clear sight - and would have expected the 3rd one to be beside them - if I had known there is such a thing as isolator switches in advance.
So that was a wrong assumption.
Ditto to "patronising" other people - I don't think so.
Dafty, you are very brave
63 mortgage payments to go.
Zero wins 2016 😥0 -
... or foolish!
Waiting in for a " home check" for a waif dog to adopt, so it's not just on here I am a mug for the distressed!
Mind you, at least the adoptee dog is sane!

Money, I know it's easy to go overboard with worry and frustration when a job appears to not be done properly but, remember, every electrician (plumber, window fitter, roofer, decorator) will have his own foibles, his own reasons for going over the top, or cutting a corner.}
I am in the early stages of a refurb project and this, absolutely, is it. Every tradesperson I've had to quote has had their own suggestion for how to do things, just like every kitchen firm has a different suggestion for how to lay out the kitchen. Doesn't mean any of them are wrong, just different solutions to the same problem. The electricians I had to quote for a rewire ranged from the one who wanted to bring everything up to current regs (eg putting extractor in the loo which was one room I wasn't planning on doing anything to) to the one who was happy to have a look at the current wiring and replace as necessary. I've gone with the latter, and I am absolutely confident that he is doing everything safely -some things i have suggested and he has said 'nope' but has then come up with suggestions for how I could achieved my desired outcome in a different way. He is the one going to be signing it off at the end of the day after all..
I think the key is having an idea of what you'd like to achieve, being flexible in how to get there, accept that some things might not be possible, and trusting the tradespeople you've chosen. They are NOT all cowboys out to get you!0 -

Well, money, when I said I agreed with you, for the first time, that you were being ripped off.... it's still the one and only time....

Oh I think you might agree with me one more time at least Dafty - now that NICEIC and myself are comparing notes as to what our respective paperwork says for the original electric work in 2013.......and finding it's a bit different version:cool:.
Don't think I need to read the detective stories that are my idea of light escapist fiction at the moment.... I'm on the case:rotfl:and thinking there's a reasonable chance this can be sorted....0 -
As the number starts 0843 504 it is very likely the number is a premium rate "call connection service" - a scam.Heedtheadvice wrote: »Contact? Through a little common sense and telephone directory online....
