After a very anxious wait and a traumatic home assessment ,i received my PIP award letter today:i didn,t expect it to arrive so soon as i just had the assessment carried out on 1st November./just over 2 weeks ago
I have been awarded the standard rate care and enhanced mobility for 3 years which i,m quite satisfied with although note many inconsistencies in the assessors report and was not given any points in some descriptors which i feel i should have been given points for especially as my employed carer confirmed the help i need with these things and actually did help with during the assessment.
I am grateful for any award though as didn,t think i would get anything so am not going to appeal as i could end up losing the award i,ve already got despite my feeling i should have been awarded both enhanced rates. I will also still be lodging a complaint about the assessor and her failures to mention or ask about the side effects of my medications and other issues i experienced with her during the 2 and a half hour assessment.
At least i have some good news for a change and can now concentrate and conserve the little energy i have just now on the long term treatment i will be getting in a few weeks for the most recent lung condition i have been diagnosed with. Thank you for all the advice i received on the forum :)

  • If I were you I would leave things be. You have got a good award for a decent length of time, what will complaining achieve? Know when you're ahead, and know you got that award largely because of what the assessor said. Also if you complain, you may get the same assessor in future-and they may not be quite so kind to you next time around!
