How far in advance can I renew my passport?

Options
My Passport has 9 more years validity left. I am planning to travel abroad with my new girlfriend, but I don't want her to see my previous travel stamps. I am wondering can I renew my passport now, so that my friend won't see my previous travel stamps?

Is it allowed to renew passport when 9 more years remaining on it?

    2. Renew

If your passport’s expired, you must renew it before you can travel.
You can renew your passport at any time. When you renew your passport, time left on your existing passport is added to your new one, up to a maximum of 9 months.
So you'd get 9 months added to your new passport.

Or you could just come clean to your girlfriend about where you've been travelling to....;)

Where've you been, I'm always looking for destination ideas?
  • Does it mean, the new passport will have 10 years 9 months validity?

If I apply for premium or same-day passport, can I tell the interviewer why I am renewing my passport so early? I know it makes me look bad in front of interviewer as I am hiding things from my girlfriend.

For those, who asked which country I have visited... I was in Thailand for a month :)

    Someone else will answer that.

Have you looked at the link I posted?
    You can apply online.
Why would you need to have an interview?
Are there some nationality issues that you haven't mentioned?

Is that really something that you need to hide from your girlfriend?

I just thought to apply for premium appointment because we are planning to travel in 2nd week of December. There are no nationality issues, I am british citizen, so its a standard passport renewal.
