Txt from VirginMoney about a new card?

in Credit cards
I have a virgin money CC that comes to the end of its 0%BT period on 31st Dec, but the card itself doesn't run out til 04/18. The texts just said 'your shines new credit card is on its way, please keep using your old one until it arrives'
Haven't requested a new or replacement card, so are these texts genuine? Only reason I'm asking I had a CC application with Virgin intercepted about 8 years ago after it was approved and before it was delivered- basically someone redirected my mail, got the card and PIN and spent about £11k in a shop in Barking (got it sorted but was a pain in the butt).
To add to the hassle, I'm currently traveling around Asia for 3 weeks (I haven't used the card here, or anywhere else it's purely used for 0% BT) so a call to them isn't as easy as it normally would be
Any advice please?

'Your shines new credit card' doesn't sound very genuine to me.
Can't see any connection between the end of a 0% promotional period and sending out a replacement card.
It appears too early for a replacement card to be issued.
Would suggest calling or e-mailing them.0 -
I thought I remembered you OP

I’m guessing you didn’t get the CIFAS protective registration?
My guess is that given you’ve had problems in the past with similar, the same thing is likely to have happened again because you didn’t listen to the advice you were given. If you are currently abroad then you have 2 choices:
1. Hope that Virgin made a mistake and deal with it when you get back to the UK
2. Call up Virgin now and ask them why they’re sending you out a replacement card when you didn’t request it and also ask for their notes to see if someone called up etc. They can then cancel the card so at least when it arrives it won’t be useable. And then make sure you fill out the form for CIFAS protective register and also check all 3 copies of your credit file when you get home and monitor them over the coming months to see if any new searches/accounts have been added.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards.
