Monzo have stopped providing the pre pay card now and it is rolling out the current account debit card.

Yes, I found that out shortly after posting. Just didn't get round to editing.

  • Starling Bank is not and has never been a prepaid card, it's a full-service mobile-only bank account.

My bad, assumed it was pre-paid, based on my usage.
Excellent for travel, with no fees, MasterCard exchange rate and even gives some token interest. The app works perfectly, updates and notifies instantly for any transaction, and provides advanced selectable security features for the card.

Until wifi access fails, for whatever reason !!!

Fortunately I haven't experienced that drama .....................yet.
  • Starling debit card works brilliantly. I have used it several times abroad and it’s workee fine and I got a really good rate each time. No fees to use in store or to withdraw cash. The application process is quick and way and the app is fantastic.

I combine this with the Halifax clarity and I’m all set!

I usually use my Starling debit card to withdraw cash and my clarity card to make purchases. They both work like a dream.

I also take my normal bank card with me just as a back up.

    Happy travels!

I have the Nationwide FlexPlus account and one of the reasons I chose it was for free withdrawls abroad and free travel insurance (we were going off to NZ later that year so was good timing).

Great account and greatr building society.

One thing worth checking on this in regards to the travel insurance is whether it would cover as long as 7 months in one holiday as such.
  • About Starling bank. Is there any limit you could withdraw per month? Is there any number of withdrawal per month before they start charging you?
