Did E.O.N sneak up there prices overnight

Just had a smart meter fitted by EON yesterday and my tariff was coming to an end, so yesterday I went onto their website to find the best one they had two that interested me one the day rate was13.22p and 16.22p standing, the other which I was considering was the Eco 7 one 15.76p Day and 7.21p Night.
After a search on the net trying to find out the Eco7 times I ended up chatting to Stephen on EON chat who asked for my post code and house number getting back with the times 12:30 to 7:30, so a few calcs later I decided on the Eco 7, went onto the webpage to sort out the tariff and it was down for maintence.
So back on this morning to find the tariffs have disappeared and been replaced with a 14.22p day rate (increased by 1p) and 16.42 standing and the Eco7 has gone up from 15.76p to 16.96p and 7.21p to 7.77p with a standing charge of 16.42p.

My question although EON fitted the smart meter yesterday am I now obligated to stay with them or can I just jump ship and go with another company, as it seems strange I was looking for a new tariff and overnight it increased

You can apply to switch supplier anytime you like :)
Switch of supplier takes a minimum of 17 days, but could take up to 5 weeks.

Consult a comparison site to find the best deal for you.

You know your nice new smart meter will no longer work in smart mode if you change supplier, don't you? ;)
