Problem with breakdown company

It was your mistake, you called the wrong company. As you needed assistance, they obliged rather than leaving you stranded and issued you with a bill for their services as you did not pay an annual subscription to that company. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

You called, asked them to provide a service, they provided it and got you recovered and are now charging you. Yes, they should have advised you that your contract with them had expired but equally, you rang them to ask for help. A polite and pleasant call to explain the misunderstanding and offering to pay half of the cost by way of acknowledging your fault might work. They may even waive it entirely but equally, they have a case to push for full payment so it's up to you how you handle it.0 -

Well, with respect, your opinion could be that the world is flat, wouldn't make it true though!
They authorised it because you rang them up! You gave them your registration details. Frankly, had they charged you £1,000 I would say you would be liable.0 -
Might they have made you aware of their costs for recovery if you are were to no longer have membership during your time with them.
Either way the brunt of the mistake is yours as you initiated it so to expect to get away with receiving a service for completely free is hopeful to say the least.
If someone I knew was in your situation I would suggest offering half and be thankful if they except it and take it as a lesson learned not to make that mistake again0
