I've just tested this and very impressed. I threw some adult sites at it that I (ahem!) have heard of and it blocked them all. I stopped the service and Internet stopped. Checked all the obvious stuff that I'd do to disable it and so far haven't found a way yet.
I've now installed it on my daughter's PC. I used to use Zonealarm security suite but stupid thing sometimes went on the rampage and blocked sites like Google as "chat sites". Gave up in the end but have been nervous about DD surfing the net unrestricted in her bedroom.
You can just type in your password and click "indefinate" for duration. TBH, the inconvenience is a small price to pay really isn't it?The only problem I have with it is that it is not configurable for separate accounts as far as I can see. So yes it blocks inappropriate stuff for my children but it also all of the 'interesting' sites I might want to look at.
Overall I'd give this a 9/10 so far.0 -

I hope she's still running a firewall and AV?
My PC at home runs on Vista which has some pretty decent parental controls built in, filters content and also you can set times when they can use the PC. Logs everything too. It's all based on user accounts as well so we only have to restrict the children's account.
I must admit though that K9 is pretty good for a freebie and they are a very reputable company. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -

For what it's worth I have a son of 13 and daughter of 8 and we have used K9 for some time now to great effect. It's easy to set up / use and it does what it says on the tin. Keeps the kids away from the bad stuff.
K9 gets my vote.
