I have just discovered this wicked little piece of software which allows you to block specific types of "bad" websites from !!!!!! to gambling etc etc. So whilst the kids are online they remain safe and its free!!!!!
You could even block the wife from visiting shopping sites, now theres a money saving tip
Don't know if I'm aloud to post a link or not but if you google for Bluecoat K9 you'll find it.

Apologies if I'm mistaken but this suspiciously looks like spam seeing as this is only your second post and your advertising some software...
However, as I said I apologies if I'm mistaken. THis would prob do better in the freebies section anyway

I'll leave it to the mods to decide what's considered advertising or product endorsement.0

Seems a poor referral when they tell you to go search for it yourself.

The software does seem to get reasonable reviews on Download.com.Dave. :wave:0 -
I use Opendns http://www.opendns.com/ You can configure it to block adult sites and it really does work. No registration, no downloads.0

Bluecoat are a reputable company, we run Bluecoat Reporter at work for one of our projects.
K9 seems to get decent reviews as well.
BTW Ladsbroke no problem with links so long as they're not affiliate links. Actually affiliate links may be OK if you declare them. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Hi fellas, genuinely not advertising or spam, you lot are sooooo suspicious, I heard about this from a mate who works in IT who uses the corporate Bluecoat products and this is a free tool for home users.
I have 3 kids two boys 8 and 6 who use the internet for games etc and this is an invaluable tool for me to keep them safe at all times, it also makes sure if you use something like google that the safesearch mode is always on. This is handy as if you use googles image search without this you generally get a page full of !!!!!!.
Honest guys this is a genuine post from someone who has found a free quality piece of software, and as its registered when you download it if you have any issues I believe you can even get support on it!0 -
The only problem I have with it is that it is not configurable for separate accounts as far as I can see. So yes it blocks inappropriate stuff for my children but it also all of the 'interesting' sites I might want to look at.
Good if your children have their own machines, not so good if they use a shared one. It's my problem, it's my problem

yeah but there is an admin override for those interesting sites, password protected of course.
I love the logging feature on it so I can see which users have tried to go where
