Disabled drop off at Heathrow?

I had to pick up twice from Heathrow recently, and the free 2 hours in the long stay parking worked perfectly, as shown in your link.
They have special spaces just inside the car park barrier for 2 hour stays, the bus stops right by those spaces and drops you right outside the terminal. I was using terminal 5 and would allow 15 mins each way, which allows a good hour at the terminal any longer and you might be late back and incur a hefty charge if you go over the 2 hours. If you get back early the car park is alongside the runway and great for a bit of plane watching.0 -
Well I think we will do the same. Two hours FREE parking at an airport!
That will give us time to see DD off and buy a big box of tissues!0 -
Looking at the long stay 2 hours which seems to be a bargain. If you stay a few minutes over that time it looks as if you go onto the £27.30 daily rate. Is that right?0

That's how it reads yes, they also state you can't re-enter any other Heathrow long stay car for 24 hours. The whole car park bit is fully automated, take a ticket on arrival and drive to the barrier to exit, here is a call button at the exit if you have any issues. The bus uses the public roads, not special bus routes, so IF there was an accident would be held up like any other vehicle, I'd like to think they would waive any fee if you were held up but can't say for sure.
I have to say I was really impressed with this service as well as the free drop off service at the terminal. There are signs at the drop off zone which say anyone found picking up there may be liable to a penalty, I've done it in the past but with more and more cameras I felt the 2 hour option to be the better option. Just keep an eye on the clock!0 -
Well we used the terminal 4 long stay, bus took about 20 mins from us entering the car park to us entering the terminal and drop off/pick up is right by the entrance.
DD checked in and we sat with a coffee for nearly an hour before saying good bye.
Got back to the car and drove to the barrier which opened immediately to let us out without paying. GREAT MSE advice! thanks for all the advice.
Would say leave in plenty of time, there was an accident on the M25 which had us crawling for a while!0 -
Thanks for the update, glad it worked as well for you as it did for me.0
