Don't you mean " That will teach them"

Anyway I didn't cancel to teach them a lesson or as a protest. I cancelled because I did not feel comfortable for being ripped off with a ยฃ600 single supplement. The thought of sitting at the bar next to another person on the same cruise who has paid that amount less than me really did not make me smile.

I will spend my hard earned money elsewhere until they sort the practice out.

The hounds will find you for voicing your oppion ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
Good luck with your new venture ๐Ÿ˜„

I did have some sympathy for you until I read this:
It does look like the cabin you had previously booked enjoys exactly the same floor space as a twin room.

Therefore I don't think your frustration is particularly justified.

    Is this accurate?

And if so, does it alter your opinion of the 'single supplement'?

Apologies for your inability to accept dry humour.

Rip off is pushing it a hit. If you were booking a single hotel room you'd usually pay the same as somebody cramming their family into the one next to it.
The thought of sitting at the bar next to another person on the same cruise who has paid that amount less than me really did not make me smile.
But you've paid much less square foot per person than a couple or family.
I will spend my hard earned money elsewhere until they sort the practice out.
That is your choice. How much was your cancellation charge?

    Hi All,

I was therefore being asked to pay over ยฃ600 as a single supplement. OK I understand that if I had booked a double room and the cruise was not all inclusive that TUI would be losing out, but am at a total loss to understand such an outrageously high single supplement for an all inclusive cruise in a single cabin.

    Is there no charge for

    1. Drinks?
    2. Ship organised Tours?
    3. Shopping on board?

I would suggest part of the supplement is to cover what two people would spend on these things.

You must have thought the cruise was worth what you paid when you booked it (otherwise you wouldn't have booked).
It was only when you found out what other people were paying that you decided you were being ripped off.

I don't see this as any different to someone booking a holiday and finding out that somebody who has booked exactly the same package has paid much less.

That's why I conveniently 'forget' how much we've paid whenever anybody asks us. ;)
  • Yes, nothing worse than sitting on your sunbed and being asked how much you paid for the holiday
