OP, does your own insurance cover legal costs ? Sounds like Dynorod are aiming for a bodge-job that'll impact your ability to insure or sell the house.
As they've made the property hazardous to health and uninhabitable, I'd be looking to cover hotel costs until it's sorted to a proper standard0 -

Yes my insurance does cover legal costs Debbie. I got on to the asbestos bloke earlier and he's now saying I don't have to be out of the house and that they'll use...I think he said some kind of cupping when screwing the screws into the joist....and then a hepa filter vacuum, not an ordinary one. When I said that he said the asbestos had to be encapsulated, he said this simply means it will be kept in place by the seal that the builders will put over it, after screwing the part of the ceiling back in place. It's only ever so slightly bowed in that area, a lot of people wouldn't even notice. I Googled encapsulation & found this:
Asbestos encapsulation is a method of coating the asbestos in a high performance, sprayed resin coating that will protect the asbestos from further age degradation, cracking, flaking and breaking from any knocks or movement...
which sounds like the method the builders are going to use.Money, money, money, must be funny, in the rich man's World!0 -

Looks like you've had some reassurance and that the work will be dealt with properly, which is what matters.0 -

Ah I see lol yes I must admit, one minute I'm relieved, the next minute I'm worriedMoney, money, money, must be funny, in the rich man's World!0 -
It was a response to some of the alarmist statements made by Debbie, some of which may have been edited out.

Asbestos containing materials such as artex are unlicensed and can be dealt with by anyone taking precautions. No amount of air testing will get a high fibre count for cutting out a section of ceiling. And OP what was the mystery machine that someone wafted around your curtains and beeped?

He said it was a machine for testing dampness. The builder came out with one originally and basically said it was showing high damp levels but 'machines such as that were unreliable anyway.' He 'proved' it by testing it on his hand and showing that it had a high level of dampness. Then a bloke came out looking at the curtains & carpet and used another damp meter. This time, it beeped in certain areas, he said the ceiling couldn't be repaired until it was properly dry, which was why he left me a dehumidifier and air blower. Since then it has extracted a huge amount of water in the container.Money, money, money, must be funny, in the rich man's World!0
