Replacing Gas Hob in Granite Worktop

We have just moved into our new house and love the kitchen except for the fact that the gas hob looks to have been purchased as the last item when all the budget has gone!
It's small and ugly, basically.
I'd love to get a bigger 5 or 6 ring hob fitted, but the worktop is obviously now in place, and I've tried the original installers and a company that specialises in granite and marble items, and they've both said they won't do that sort of thing.
Has anybody had this sort of thing done before and if so how hard was it?
I'd obviously prefer not to have to transport the surface anywhere, but is it even a job that can be done on site?
Thanks!

The above facts belong to everybody; the opinions belong to me; the distinction is yours to draw...

Stone is usually cut using diamond tools and lots of water. It could be done on site, but it will make a lot of mess doing so. Cutting wet will mean water everywhere, and cutting dry will create huge amounts of dust.
There is also the risk of cracking the slab as it is being cut whether it is done on site or in a workshop. Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
I second what FreeBear says.
Have you considered fitting 5 hob gas cooker in the same space as the one you have? A 5 ring gas hob like http://amzn.to/2jlNIp8 is perhaps as big as some size (70 cm) of the 4 ring ones unless yours is a 60/50 cm model.
Can you confirm the size of your current hob?Cardinal-Red wrote: »We have just moved into our new house and love the kitchen except for the fact that the gas hob looks to have been purchased as the last item when all the budget has gone!
