Messy toilet :)

Hi All

OK so don’t laugh at the back of my mucky toilet (I took this as I was cleaning it earlier, honest!) but look at this mess of pipes. And the big hole (that I’ve just blocked up with a couple of tea towels!)

But.... is there anything that I can buy ‘off the shelf’ to cover up this sort of thing without commissioning a carpenter to build soemthing specific?

Apols I couldn’t work out how to post pic in the post directly.

Thanks v much.

I do not know of anything "off the shelf" that could sort it out so perhaps a carpenter/odd job person is the way to go and I would have shot the person that installed it in the first place if anything like that was in my property {sorry if it was a partner or family member that did yours}.
If other know better I bow to their knowledge.

No it was like that when I moved in so get your gun out!! :)

I thought there might be some sort of rubber housing/whatever that I could buy from Screwfix/wherever that I could use to tidy up stuff like that.

How much do you think it would cost to get a carpenter/handyman in to box it off?

    TY,

Take the pic to screwfix and see what they say. We can get handymen for about £10 an hour, probably wouldn't need a proper carpenter to do a job like that

That's good - both in opportunity and your handyman's rate - £10 is a bargain!

Open up the wooden box section and replace the copper feed pipe with a white flex type pipe ( you can buy them at B & Q or Toolstation ) then buy some plywood and box the soil pipe in.

Paint the pipe white and stand a large loo brush holder in front of it.

That’s not a bad idea - change the pipework rather than work around the pipes...

Haha not exactly what I had in mind but not a bad low budget approach!

    Toilet waste pipe cover plate

You can get collars for the soil pipe that mean the carpentry does not have to be spot on to get a neat finish around that

    eg https://www.screwfix.com/p/talon-110mm-pipe-collar-white/61841
    61841_P&$prodImageMedium$

Can't tell if there is a service valve on the water connection?

Excellent - thanks very much for this. It looks like it might be a little bit shallow for the 'mess behind my bog' :) but I didn't know I could buy pipe collars so this gives me something to search around a little bit more for. :)
