  • Candy I've read both Amanda Owen's books, I also read 3 books last week by Faith Martin, murder mysteries set in Oxford, the police office in the books lives on a narrowboat moored in Thrupp, we have moored there a few times.
    Chin up, Titus out.

    Morning all

Just waving goodbye to my Grandbabies...I know 'Why Mummy Drinks'. I'm knackered and really don't know how I coped with 5 but I did. At one time I had 3 at different schools! I wouldn't have changed a thing though and I was much fitter than I am now.

Things I need to do today:

    [STRIKE]Vacuum throughout[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]The Sunday roast - lamb[/STRIKE]
    [strike] Steam clean hard floors[/strike]
    The rest can wait

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

Oh dear LW rant away. I'm sending many hugs to you. Just a thought, could you not suggest a role swap ? Let him decide about the supermarket for a while, I'm sure he will soon realise his mistake :rotfl:.
I'd love to do this - but I daren't. For starters, it'd completely banjax the food budget, as he throws anything remotely like the item required into the basket without checking prices, and will buy branded goods if not watched like a hawk. Also he will impulse buy, where I'm "if it's not on the list, we're not having it". He also doesn't read labels properly - one time I asked him to get bran flakes; I specified "Harvest Morn" (@ldi's own) in the blue box; what he came home with was @ldi's version of Special K, in a red and white box, which tasted of sawdust, and didn't have the benefits that I require from eating bran flakes (sorry if TMI). :doh:Actually, I think the box would've tasted better..... :D
Lame wolf, I hate shopping with a passion whether it be for food clothes or anything, I particularly hate wandering around B&Q whilst hubby gets his fix of tool !!!!!!.
Same here; and he knows I loathe shopping, too!

LW I very much consider food shopping to be one of the household chores and if my beloved suggested otherwise if could find himself permanently ensconced in one of those child seats in a shopping trolley :D
I like that idea; unfortunately, I need him to push my wheelchair. :D

Don't get me wrong, he willingly comes with me and helps, my gripe is that he seems to think my "we need to do the beastly chore of going to the supermarket and doing a food shop lest we starve next week" is equivalent to his "I fancy going to the pub; put your coat on and we'll go".
All I am asking is to be allowed to select a leisure outing that I would specifically like to do once in a while; or am I being unreasonable? :(
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • That's entirely reasonable LW

Hester I'm very pleased that someone else shares my dislike of barbecue sauce. I will eat things barbecued in other sauces, not that though.

I had a hot bath with my book, managed to jerk awake just before my eyes closed and did not drop book in the bath.
OH has hung out washing, it is quite nice here. Well it's actually really cold but it is not raining, which is better than it has been for a few days.
I might go and make some stuffing next and prep sone veg. I don't know what veg he bought yesterday. Lots I hope, I love veg. I'm making myself eat a bit of meat for protein, I like fish. I'm not going to make separate meals, I've done a lot of that, I just cook for them and eat the bits I like.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Must be a common thing with some men Lamewolf. We only go to the places Grump wants to go to. I'm happy to go with him (apart from Halfords which I hate with a passion) but places I want to go to he's never willing to go to.

I remember a few years ago on holiday going everywhere the boys wanted but nagged and nagged cause I wanted to go to the Eden project. In the end Grump gave in. It cost a fortune to get in and I was in and out in under an hour. I was furious. I've never let him live it down. He has apologised since and promises to take me again but despite reminders it has never happened.

There's a fine line between being affable and a doormat. Not saying your a doormat Lamewolf but hopefully you know what I mean. I'd like to get the balance right.

    Update to my earlier post.

I had thought today was going to be a complete write off but whilst in the bathroom earlier I thought oh I'll just clean the bathroom whilst I'm here.

I went straight from there to my bedroom and sorted out the jumble of clothes on the floor. I then decided I'd sort my bedding too and vac packed my summer stuff..whilst the hoover was at hand I hoovered everywhere too.

I then thought, I've started so I'll finish so I dusted then mopped.

So I'm feeling rather pleased with myself..even though my flat is small and I really only gave the place a quick once over, at least I have achieved something :)

  • Afternoon all. It's been a lovely sunny (but chilly) day here but thanks to the thoughtless neighbours roundabouts, with their massive fences and sky high conifers, the sun didn't get over them to our garden. So a waste of time pegging out washing and it's drying upstairs!

DUMPLING I'm glad your visit to Becky went reasonably well. But it's early days yet. Such a worry for you. x

I have been very aggrieved with Amazon this week but all is now forgiven! I ordered a cd on Monday, email said it would be delivered Thurs or Fri. Then Friday evening another email said it was held up and would be two more days. Saturday another email saying it would be next Friday!! Then this morning another email saying it would be today! And lo and behold it was finally delivered at 1.00 pm. It's been worth the wait as I have it playing now - it's Liberations Door by Snatam Kaur (I just love her music) and it's so relaxing I could fall asleep!

Needless to say I never made it to TKMaxx this morning! Maybe through the week - or maybe not! I wish I had my DD's love of shopping, she didn't get it from me!

I really must get my ar*e into gear this week and get some neglected jobs done - maybe tomorrow!

Enjoy your afternoon folks if you can xx

    Afternoon all.

Just arrived home, had a lovely drive but it’s very chilly.

I decided to stay with DM until today as I’m not going to Dunoon anymore. DM took the opportunity to have me drive her in to town for some shopping! :( She bought some shoes in Hotter (a pair of boots and a pair of slippers), some small things in L*keland and ordered a cardi in JL. She wanted an electric blanket, a new innovation for her, so I got that.

As I was there I bought a new handbag and ordered a new laptop. This one is on its last legs and often won’t boot up or takes three goes. I’ve put up with it for ages, can’t wait any longer.

Going to DM’s is exhausting as she has so many little jobs for me so I get hardly a moments peace. However, I’m happy to be there with her and help keep her comfortable. I’m so lucky that she’s still mobile and has all her marbles mostly intact.

It’s an early night for me. Another one who was still awake at 2.00am, it’s so unusual for me and I still woke at 6.00am so it’s Strictly and then sleep.

Happy rest of Sunday to all, I’ve read the thread, good to know about Becky, shopping woes and mass cleaning / tidying going on. I’ve done neither!
