Anything to see in Norwich?
Options
I am driving South Wales, South of Birmingham, Stow on the Wold, Banbury, Northampton, Peterborough, Norwich...
And then back again...tomorrow.
Will arrive Norwich around 2pm,
Never been over by the wash before so I will have a little time to go see something, maybe only one thing before heading home.
I like Castles, Abbeys, Stone circles, long barrows, great views,
I like things to be free or cheap
Is there anything I should go and see while I'm over there?
Suggestions please, thanks,
I left this post a little late, but I just thought about it so here it is at 10pm the night before I am going.

Norwich has a castle but I've never been in and not sure of the cost, you can walk round the outside wall of it.
The cathedral is free I was quite impressed when I went.
Cathedral and castle are a short walking distance of each other.0 -
Probably too late too tell you but...
Cathedral and its precinct highly recommended. Also Elm Hill. (an "Olde Worlde" street a short walk from Cathedral). Also lots of churches.
Parking might be an issue but you can use Sainsburys on Queens Road for free for two hours so long as you spend a fiver(?) in there and get your ticket validated. The other car parks are busy this time of year but you might get into Chapelfield CP).
Enjoy your afternoon!0 -
Ok thank you,
Norwich Cathedral, and Elm Hill, and castle nearby.
Park in Sainsbury's, spend at least £5.
That's what I'll do.
Thanks.0 -
You could cast your eye over the architectural abomination that is the Castle Mall Shopping Center and wonder at the level of backhanders that must have been passed to get planning permission for it.0

Assuming you can access this while mobile, don't forget Sainsburys is a maximum of 2 hours stay. Get your parking ticket validated just before leaving. Keep an eye on time.
The Cathedral is 30 mins max walk each way, (You can probably do it quicker though). Elm Hill 5 mins further.
You'll walk past the Castle - I wouldn't bother going in.0 -
All the information you might need can be find on the following website http://www.suffolkgazette.com/0

Even if that were a genuinely useful website, since when has Norwich been in Suffolk?0 -

2 hours isnt long enough to park in sains (queens rd) and do the cathedral, castle and elm hill.
park in the castle mall ( it is no where near as busy as chapelfield) and you are right under the castle and much closer to the cathedral. about £1.20 an hour
edit realised you are on way by now.
thats a hell of a drive in a day ( possibly 6 hours each way)0
