Where can I sell broken and old laptops?

Hi,
I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right place, if not feel free to move, please.

I have two very old and broken laptops a 2011 Lenovo with a smashed screeen and a 2009 Dell with a smashed screeen and keyboard. I was wondering if there is a reliable place where I could sell them for parts, maybe? I know that I won't probably get more than 10 quid on each but as finances are pretty dire here I'm having a clearout and trying to sell whatever I can. I had a look on google but reviews vary and realibilty is not always there.

Any help is greatly appreciated, TIA. :)

That's is the problem, I don't know how to dismantle a laptop and I was looking for some kind of company/website who bought them, think like Envirofone for computers.

I really don't fancy advertising on Ebay, I'm looking for a quicker solution. Thank you for your help anyway.
  • I doubt you will find anyone wants them, there are dozens of working “old” laptops for virtually nothing, mostly from Windows XP cast outs. To give you some idea, a friend bought one for €5 from a charity shop in Spain, it’s fully working except the battery is very poor.

Take them to the local council recycling centre and move on.
  • Make sure you take the hard drives out. Look on YouTube how to do it. Otherwise someone, somewhere (unless the whole thing is shredded) will take that HDD and see what's on it. It's what I do when I get given old laptops.

And deleting isn't enough a secure wipe needs to be done. If you don't know how to do that, then it's easier to just take the drive out and physically destroy it.

You still need to wipe data securely though !
For the amount that they will sell for and to avoid sleepless nights - destroy them !

Thank you, that's probably the best option, remove the hard drives and take them to recycling.

Somebody will be in the same position as you but their 2011 Lenovo screen will be in good order. Maybe they'll sell you the screen (or even the whole unit) for next to nothing.
Please don't reply with 'but I don't know how to replace a screen' because the www is awash with advice and tutorials on how to fix just about anything computer-related.
