Which engine/fuel system cleaner?

Hi,

I have a 55 plate Corsa C SXi (petrol) and would like to purchase some engine/fuel system cleaner. I haven't done for a few years and want to see if it helps with the occasional starting issues, particularly as I let my petrol light start flashing before I filled up last time and so there may have been some deposits that have worked their way into my system.

I previously used redex but have also seen that you can get a couple of products by Wynns - an injection cleaner and a petrol system cleaner.

I would imagine they're all pretty much the same but would like to get any recommendations on which to buy.

Also, I tend to fill up at Sainsburys and wondered if people would recommend using a non-supermarket station and also purchasing the better quality fuels like premium unleaded?

My car has done about 107k miles so if I can help to look after the engine in a small way then I would like to.

Thanks.

Stp (petrol) injector cleaner its really good get it from euro's for £5
People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. We want the biggest house, fanciest car, and we don't mind paying the sky high mortgage to put up that show. We sacrifice our biggest assets our health and time, We feel happy when we see people look up to us and see how successful we are”

Thanks for the recommendation. I've had a look on euro's and there is:

I'm assuming you mean the second one? It's £5 when using the 35% off code.

In those cars the membrane behind the speedo cracks and causes intermittent running of the car, sometimes you have to send the speedo off for a new membrane around £100 but check on a dedicated Vauxhall Corsa forum.

Well it's not much different because i have an email from Shell confirming that it all comes from the same refineries as all other local fuel stations. The only difference is small amount of additive.

All fuel sold in the UK has to conform to minimum standards. There is no way fuel could be manufactured that can adversly affect an engine but then somehow be transformed with a small amount if additive into the "best" fuel you can get.

That's just a load of nonsense. As already pointed out all fuel sold in the UK has to conform to agreed specifications.

Secondly refined oil products like petrol and diesel are actually solvents in their own right that even unaltered will have a cleaning effect on any machinery it comes in contact with. Yes, fuel producers include additive packs to improve the fuel's properties further but the absence of these additives isn't going to suddenly turn the fuel into some sort of nasty substance that will wreck an engine.

Run a diesel engine on nothing but supermarket fuel for years is not good for fuel injectors compared to branded fuel

Have you got a link to a proper engineering or scientific study to back that up? Whenever this debate erupts on this all we ever hear is anecdotal evidence. I've actually searched for proper studies on fuel injector deposits and never been able to find much to suggest there's much difference between standard fuels.
