Hi just a note to say that the jobcentre as you prob know isn't open at the weekend, what we advise people to do who are in real dire straights is to ring the local police. They have tel nos for people who are in real need (which you are - nothing to be ashamed of) that they can give for food, small cash amounts for heating etc.

Please give them a ring, dont feel ashamed, embarrassed, there not just there for the bad guys!!!.

    ((((((((((:A )))))))))) - Big Hugs!

Your lucky you found 5p im sure id find !!!!!! all if I looked in my place!:D

Anyway, dont worry about the "Final Demand" letter. Its all part of the process and believe me there are a few more letters before they would even consider going to court. Its expensive and something they would rather not do.

So first things first, take the advice of everyone on here. GET HELP! with sustaining yourself for the next few weeks and make sure YOUR okay. Sod the creditors they have millions and you dont!

When you feel ready in a week or two write a letter to them and outline how and when you feel you can pay back the money. Your local CAB will help you with this and they will help to get you back on your feet too.

Local council is a good area to find help too. Flick through your local council website for addresses and numbers for departments that can help provide crisis funding etc etc.

    ONCE AGAIN!

Easier said than done, hp. If only life were that simple.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

    Good Morning Hotpoint

I would copy the letter RAS suggested and send it off to them (although I would say Sir or Madam instead of Dear Bully!). That will slow things down and give you plenty of time to get proper advice.
    It's great to be ALIVE!
  • Just caught this. Bg hugs fr you. Its so hard whe ou feel desperate & dont know what to do isnt it? Have you rung CCCS for advice on the 5000 debt? They would be able to negociate a debt management plan (DMP) for you and take some of the stress off you which it sounds like you really need! I know £5000 feels alot but in relative terms it isnt a huge amount but depends on your earnings - I owe far more than that! When you are able sit down and work out your outgoings and incomings and things will be much clearer for you. Unclear why you dont know what you will earn - is it variable hours? If so work out what the minimum will be and go from there...at least it will give you something to start with. Big hugs for you & keep us posted. DONT do anything to hurt yourself - it is just money and really not worth that but I do understand that awful feeling of feeling so desperate and not knowing what to do and it really is awful..:)

  • Are you entitled to DLA if you have mental health problems? Please seek advice asap from the CAB etc.

Things do get better with time.

    Hi Hotpoint.

    How you doing this morning?

And sorry about the rather less than switched on friend.

right now though the issue is getting yourself through the weekend. Come monday, we can look at getting your money sorted out.

Apart from sending off that letter, let the other debts alone for a week or two. When you are ready take a leaf from fermi's sig
Professional, free and impartial advice on debt problems can be obtained from several charitable and 'not for profit' organisations. They never make a penny from the advice they give, which means it will be given with only your best interests at heart. You can contact:

Your local CAB Office and ask to speak to a 'money advisor' *** The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 *** National Debtline - Tel: 0800 808 4000
    *** Payplan - Tel: 0800 917 7823

There are a number of options, but at worst, you can pay £1 a month to each creditor for a while.

have you looked at www.entitledto.com to see whether you can get HB or any other support?

And just to say how brave you are. There loads of folks on here who get into difficulties when their partner goes, loads who find things go pear-shaped temporarily when they start work and loads who get into a crisis when their benefits are in a mess, and you are coping with all three problems at once as well as being left rather in the lurch by your specialist.

So give yourself a huge pat on the back as you really are doing well.

You could give debt doctor or CCCS_Matthew a PM to ask for help as well, they work for the CAB and CCCS and post on here at interval. I think Herbie is also CAB.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
