Sorry post came up twice. I will have to stop clicking and wait to see what happens.
There are lots of people on this site who will come up with the solutions that you need.
Today, take stock of everything that you have, food wise, etc, and look at the Old Style Board threads, see if you can make something with the bits n pieces. Its surprising how inventive some people on here are.
Dont worry about posting your SOA at the moment. Just gather all your paperwork into one place, so that later you will be able to provide evidence, proof of etc, that may or may not be needed. Definitely look on the entitleto site, as if your working part time you wil be eligable for some sort of benefit top up.
Going back to work, you can sometimes claim housing benefits, and council tax benefits for a longer period to help you back into work. I am not sure exactly what they are, it seems to vary, area to area, and government campaigns, etc. But your local Job Centre Plus will help.
If you take stock, of your situation, you can prioritise what you need to tackle first, and with those deep breaths, and the people here you can climb your mountain. Good luck. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Hotpoint.
You do need to get more advice about your huge debts, later, from CCCS, CAB or National Debtline.
Right now we need to get through the weekend.
The letter above will not help practically with income for the next few days, but I hope it helps you sleep better. And if they were to take you to court, they would have to get you to do a statement of Affairs and you would be paying £1 a month, so it aint going to be worth them doing it.
What can we do now, what can we do next week and then what about the debts, later. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Thanks everyone. You're all so nice. I started crying reading your replies, but it's through relief that maybe I can get through this.
My ex isn't likely to pay anything. He said he would, but he has his own debts that he ran up in secret and can hardly afford. He won't even talk to me now.
I've only got one debt (the one I posted about above) in joint names. The rest (probably about £5000 _pale_) is solely in my name.
I haven't really been able to take everything in yet as I'm overwhelmed by it all. But I'll have another read of it later and hopefully post more then.
And I really can't thank you all enough for your kind words.Proud to be dealing with my debts

Remember that there are some dead points in the night on here (some folk sleep between 2-6am), but otherwise, there will always be someone here to share your worries and give you a hug.:grouphug:If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
That is what we are here for. I know you said you can't do a SOA because you have only just started work, but when you feel ready to (and only then) it would be a help if you can list your outgoings and debts, plus an idea of what you are likely to earn. Then we can help suggest ways to try and balance it out a bit more.
there is ALWAYS a way around things and you WILL come through this. We just have to find a way. In the mean time, you know where we are0 -
Hi
Just found a useful post by squirrel on another thread
Hi, not sure where you live and the set up there but could you visit CAB? Our local CAB provide food vouchers to people in crisis like yourself, we have a Community Larder and the voucher will provide £15 of food for each person. Other than that, could you get a crisis loan or grant from DSS?If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Hi Hotpoint,
I can't really add anything useful, because the guys above have given you a load of good advice.
But I do just want to say, "stick around" - the community here is fab and there is generally always someone who has been through whatever emotion you are going through, in a similar situation etc etc. The support is fantastic here.
Good luck, and keep posting xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hi Hotpoint - just logged on to check my posts and saw your thread. I'm really sorry to read of your situation - hopefully you will be able to speak to CAB over the weekend, to get you out of your immediate 'cash-flow' problem - there may be other charities, religious organisations or even a family member that can help as well. You have been given some great advice, so far, but your first priority must be to feed yourself.
Don't worry too much about the threatening letter - that's all it is, after all, just a piece of paper. Debt Collection Agencies are Scum who feed off of the misery of people in your situation. Fortunately, there are solutions - the letter posted by RAS is one step, but we, and you, have plenty of time to sort that out, over the next few days.
Just make yourself a cup of tea and try and relax. We'll all be looking in on this thread, to see how you are.
Good Luck.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Did they say why you are not entitled to job seekers? Normally, if you are not working, and not entitled to job seekers and have no other income, you should be entitled to income support.
What was the reason they gave?0 -
