O/S Daily Friday 10th November 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still dark here, feels quite chilly but not quite a frost.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, both boys still in their pits, DS1 has today and Monday off as he and a couple of his mates are going away for the weekend. They are leaving 1pm ish. DS2 will do the normal coming with me to the SM and then going to the gym from there.

Dinner last night was another disjointed meal but everyone got fed. Boys had fishcakes, chips and salad. I made myself a veggie curry using up several different veggies that would have been left in the bottom drawer of the fridge then thrown away, also used up half a tin of tomatoes that were left, I made a big pan full so cook once eat twice, LO portion is in the fridge that will become my dinner tonight or tomorrow night. DH decided he fancied HM egg fried rice and fish fingers - sounds a strange mix but it's what he fancied and ate a good sized bowl full. He saw the Dr yesterday, and to our astonishment his chest is clear, there's no infection, bronchitis or pneumonia but she feels the lurgy that he's had has triggered asthma - so was given prescriptions for an inhaler, steriods and anti sickness meds - and she made him promise to return at the end of the week if his cough is still there. We can see a difference already, so we're hoping we're on the right track, it wants to be, the meds cost best part of £25! much to DH's annoyance.

Yesterday I wasn't particularly productive as DH was home and I find it difficult to get on whilst he's here, but I was out part of the morning as had a nail appointment. I did manage to get several loads in the WM and in the TD, so will continue with that and do anymore washing that's needed.

I'll be heading off to the SM first thing, and then returning home to pack shopping away and tackle the ironing pile. I'll need to sort out dinner for tonight and a menu plan for next week.

Keep safe and well x

    Morning everyone

Thanks for starting us off nmlc. I'm glad that your husband got to see a doctor and that the medication is already making a difference. Hopefully he is on the mend now.

I’ve had another restless night, not helped by falling asleep on the sofa yesterday evening. I also woke up cold during the night, so got up and put a blanket on top of the duvet.

I need to shop for some fruit and a little bit of veg today, but I don’t need much as I’m being take out for lunch by a friend today so I won’t need a main meal. I will have some toast or a crumpet for tea this evening. I’m still struggling to find the motivation to do much and putting something in the toaster is quick and easy.

Yesterday afternoon I had a phone call from my neighbour asking me if I could help her catch a cat that had got into her house when she went outside and left the back door open. The poor thing was cowering under an armchair scared to come out. Eventually we managed to coax it out with some chicken and out of the back door.

Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.

    Morning all

Overslept a bit this morning so this will be short and sweet, iits Friday :j which means Takeaway and wine !

Hopefully today will be less manic than yesterday when we had two people kicking off big time, one almost pulling me over and hurting my back and one doing a pretend 'fall' to get out of work !

Bricking up an old doorway in the kitchen tomorrow so I shall be labourer again !

    Have good day all xx
  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Glad your DH managed to see a doctor and is already feeling better. £25 is a small price to pay for feeling well again.

Being Friday it's the usual Friday Tidy & clean round. I find it harder and harder to get motivated to do jobs in winter somehow. I'll be fine once I get going, it's just getting going that's the hard part!

I want to give the freezers a good sort out today too and make a new list of contents. I do this every so often but I'm sure someone keeps sneaking in and jumbling everything up again.

I stuck reasonably well to my healthy eating plan yesterday so hope to do the same today. HM soup and wraps for us both for lunch. Tonight I shall have fish, salad and butternut squash "oven chips". Mr TA won't! He prefers his meat, spuds and veg.

LAINEY your break in Edinburgh sounded lovely. We have only been once and that was to see the Tattoo but we managed to fit lots of sightseeing in too.

Have a good day all and take care ((HUGS)) for all wanting them and take care whatever you are up to! xx

    morning

Quiet this morning everyone must be having a sleep in :)

Really windy this morning so all the neighbours leaves are finding their way to my garden. Hope it keeps going then they can all blow to my other neighbours.:D

Defo got more done yesterday with my master to do list so will continue that today. Its so satisfying crossing them off :D

Not a lot of work to do today bar a bit of paperwork so will focus on the housey stuff on the list. Have a clothes mountain to sort and put away and need to nip to M+S for mums birthday pressy. Friday is normally Asda day but I seem to be squirrelling lots of food away at the moment so will leave it for a few days.

Dinner tonight will be left over fish pie from last night ...it was gorgeous even if I do say so myself :o

John Lewis ad being previewed at 8 this morning :j they have a big job to follow the last few years

Right list is calling me so off we go
  • Morning all

Thanks for the thread nmlc, hugs to all those in need.

It's overcast here today and not too cold.

Yesterday I dropped my washed bedding off at 8am with dd2 and collected dgd, dd had a meeting yesterday with regards her job.

I dropped dgd back at 1 and collected my dry bedding, I then came home and finished making a door curtain and two draught excluders for the side hatches.

Today I'm making another door curtain for the other door, then I'll just have the potholes bungs to make, tonight we're going out to a quiz night and fish and chip supper, so no cooking for me.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone.

There’s been a gale blowing all night here. Even now it’s very blustery still.

The only thing on my agenda today is an online copyright training session this afternoon. Hopefully my broadband is good enough to use the Cisco Spark programme which is a bit like Skype for many places.

I hauled some stir fry pork strips out of the freezer for later.

Thoughts with those having a rough time.

    Happy Friday to all.
  • Well done NMLC on getting your OH to the Drs and as TA said £25 is cheap to get him feeling better, and the knock on effect for the rest of you must be good.

DD gets her stitches out this morning so fingers crossed she will be more comfortable. Our Frank is still hanging in there bless him.

This morning I shall be taking DD to the outpatients clinic then back home for lunch (last of the carrot and coriander soup) then this afternoon I have history club which is always good fun,

I now have 7 baby blankets sewn together and edged for the Making Miracles charity, with another one to finish off over the weekend ,my friend will be pleased I think.

Weather is dry at least this morning and a bit brighter which is nice as its been quite grey and dark this week.

Right time for my porridge , it really does keep you full up until lunchtime and is nice and warming as well

Have a good day chums what ever you are doing

    Cheers

    JackieO xx
  • Good morning all
Thanks for starting us off nmlc. Good to hear your DH is feeling better.

Maybe shouldn't say this, but I think today will be a good day.

Just weighed myself, as I do every Friday morning, and I have done it. I have lost a stone, so pleased. I decided in February to try and loose the weight, mainly by not eating a biscuit, or two, with every cup of tea.

Going to Currys this morning to have a look at the Freesat boxes so I don't have to have Sky. Thank you for all your help.
Then DH will want a coffee, so will go to Waitrose, need milk and a few other bits.

Hope you all have a good day

    Morning everyone,

Home and it was lovely to sleep in my own bed last night, the train was delayed outside of York and we hit a lot of traffic on the drive home, having sat down for most if the day neither of us was very hungry so I just warmed up some soup when we finally got home.
We are off to pick up the girls soon from the kennels, can't wait to see their little furry faces and then over to see lovely Lulu later, normal service will be resumed :)
At some point need to pick up enough fresh bits to last us through the weekend and then will do a bigger shop on Monday.

:j on the weight loss SilverOldie haven't got on the scales yet......

Have a good day folks x

    Morning all,

Silver-oldie well done on the weight loss. I'm wondering what will happen to my weight now i have stopped taking my anti D's. The only weight i put on when i am on them is when i eat the wrong things but without anti d's i tend to comfort eat when i am stressed. I have to say, i see things a lot more clearer when i'm not taking them.

    My list for today is:

[STRIKE]Look after Little Miss whilst her Mummy goes shopping.
    Vacuum throughout[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Beach wash the side of the house
    Bathroom[/STRIKE]
Tea - [STRIKE]Chicken .... finer details will be thought of later[/strike] We had quiche instead
[STRIKE]Food shopping (later on tonight though)[/STRIKE]

Not sure i'll get any of the chores done whilst ive got little Miss but we will see.

    Onwards and forwards,

    have a great day all.
