Weird Tesco Bank CD
Comments
-
I’m sending it to a family member who works in IT. He’s got a ‘blank laptop’ and will ‘emulate’ (hope I’ve got that right) to look at the CD. Yes, he’s very curious.
Don’t think I’m being a wuss! I’m not techie so could easily get it wrong. The CD is patently not from Tesco as I’ve checked. It’s unbranded, handwritten envelope and no accompanying letter.
I’ll report back.
EDIT - here's a photo of it. Can the sender be traced through the code on the RM sticker?

Very curious. I'm also in IT and that looks 100% bent. I suspect a phising attack or something similar. Probably hoping they get someone to load it at some point.
I'm not requesting it but if I'd got it I would of loaded onto a VM to see what was on it or see what it does. I suspect it will kick off when it autoruns as well, which is another reason you shouldn't have CDs/DVD/Bluray drives autorun.0 -
Only similar thing I've had was when I requested transcripts/recordings of a series of calls with a Healthcare provider - despite size of business it arrived in handwritted padded envelope with no markings/covering letter0

Could just be a normal letter but put on CD, like when you see written on bottom or back of letters "If you'd like a copy in large print, Braille, audio etc..."
But that doesn't explain the hand written address on the envelope. CD printed text looks OK, just because it's a large company it doesn't have to have pretty pictures and well designed fancy front.0 -
Obviously I have no idea. However, I would’ve thought that if it was something genuine from Tesco then surely it wold be in a Tesco wallet and the actual cd would have the Tesco logo, with distinctive Tesco colouring that we are all familiar with.0

‘She’ would have to buy a hammer!

It’s gone to a techie relative to investigate on a blank laptop. I’ll report back when he’s had a chance to look. Could be a damp squib,
Yep, a damp squib! It has turned out to be an audio recording after all. Still, not something I ordered / asked for so I need to go back to the bank to track that down.
So, nothing sinister after all, just weird!0 -
Has your female relative bought the hammer yet?!0
