Car Crash - Company Insurance

I'm posting on behalf of a friend who crashed and wrote off his car recently.

He had the car on finance and has business insurance through company insurance he works for, howver they are refusing to give him the details of who the insurance are so he can inform them of the crash and put in a claim, most likely to save on their premiums.

His company holds all the insurance documents.

He has informed the finance company who are also trying to find out who the company is.

Where does he stand on this matter?

Thanks in advance

Does he not have his own policy with business use on it, as that has little to do with writing a car off, the underwriters will decide wether the car is beyond economical repair.

When I drive my car on company business I'm covered by companies business insurance policy - I have access to that via laptop/phone in order to exchange details or have a paper copy when travelling abroad.

On the basis your 'friend' doesn't seem to have the same how do they know they're actually covered ?

It was all done by his company and they have added him to their policy.

Upon googling I think it's something like this:
Multiple Car Insurance (Executive 4): Flexible cover designed for Limited Companies and Partnerships with up to four vehicles. Many business owners are surprised to learn that it's often cheaper to issue cover as separate policies for each vehicle, as it allows them to benefit from the flexibility of choosing the right insurer and policy for each car.

    Thanks for the reply

But as the poster before has asked , how does he know the policy included his car?

    Good point!

They've said he is and he hasn't been pulled in a year of driving it. Now you've mentioned that it, he should have made sure he got some documents.

That's all the details I have till I speak to him tomorrow.

Go to askmid.co.uk on a mobile device - tablet or phone - and you can find out the full insurance details, insurer and policy number.

Assuming the employer just covers business use of the car, then the friend does know who his insurer is, which is what askmid will return on any reg number enquiry

Just checked the vehicle is showing as no insurance, most probably because the crash was about 3 weeks ago and is off road. He's been in and out of hospital since then and has been trying to find out all the information.

Is there any way of finding out previous companies to double check they did insure him.

    Thanks for the replies.

Yes, but it's not something you will be able to do.
