I don't find it that shocking. One week to the States for two people can be up to £100. That's only 10 times that.

How much of a percentage of the cost of the cruise is it? Maybe looking at it this way doesn't make it look as bad as comparing the cost of travel insurance going for a much shorter time.

and what is the cost from C&M (or the insurers they use?)

A friend - think 70 with medical declaration in January paid (I think) around £500 for 46 nights cover going to Amazon. Age + cruise+ WorldWide 2 + medical

I paid £300 for annual insurance, yes multiple trips but only 31 days each so I'm thinking round about £1k wouldn't be surprising.
You didn't say if that was pp or for 2. I'm assuming - for each

  • I wouldn't have thought £1K for 2 was bad, given the risks the insurers are taking on.

I was quoted £1500 for 21 nights in Europe (pre existing condition that had zero chance of causing a claim) and we're late 50s and early 60s. The cheapest I got was around £600 but the cover wasn't great.
