Does anyone have any recommendations for a cloning tool for making a copy of my Windows 10 machine?
I used to use Acronis True Image but this doesn't seem to like the latest version of Windows 10.

A lot of people suggest Macrium Reflect.0

I use True Image too for all the process control computers.
I havent had to do a W10 machine yet but im struggling to see how it would make a difference what operating system is on there0 -

My thoughts as well, and it may also be down to using much later hardware rather than Windows 10. The issue I have is cloning Windows 10 then putting the image back onto the HD. It leaves me with a constantly rebooting OS, it never gets to the login screen.Pants0 -
I have used Macrium Reflect to clone a Windows 10 install onto a different disk. The original disk was failing and I cloned it to a replacement. There were no problems.0

Did you clone a different computer? If so all the drivers will be wrong. That is why its constantly rebooting.
A fresh install is recommended for new hardware.
I have no issues with True Image. Cloned my Raid setup and SSD, both images work on my virtual machines.
Took a bit of tinkering with the RAID backup though. Oracle VirtualBox won the day compared to VMWare.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I use Acronis True Image with Win 10, no issues. However, older versions may not be compatible with Windows 10.0

Can you explain this ?
As True image boots from the CD and no OS is loaded while it copies the disks, how does it matter if W10 is on there ? :huh:0 -
Can't fault you logic there, Andy.
But I use Macrium Reflect and have never had any problems....so that is my recommendation. It is free.0 -
Personally I gave up on these things long ago.
Nothing like a nice fresh install removing progreams you no longer use to make a machine better.
Windows now has a refresh option too, much like a fresh install.
And for disaster it's a good excuse for a new install, which is so much happier now microsoft provides updated installers.0 -

Acronis True Image is a program, like any other, that runs on your computer. I had an older version that wouldn’t run when I upgraded from an earlier version of Windows to Win 10. I guess you can run it only stand alone, but that misses the full functionality of the software.
I currently have True Image 2016 and it works fine with Win 10.0
