adding a competition

Hi, I'm a comper on here but also have a competition to add that I am hosting. I remember reading you can't promote your own competitions, is that correct and if so is there any way of others adding it?

There are other competition forums that you can post on and MSE compers might spot it and add it here. Alternatively, you can tweet about it on twitter with a hashtag such as #competition or #win and hope some compers spot it and post it here.
