Breakfast on Eurostar?

'Proper' British rail breakfast?
It's terribleness was the staple of British comics for decades.
Anything in a British Rail restaurant car was good, but not good value for money.
My job in the 1980s involved a fair amount of business travel, but there were strict limits on the amounts we could claim for meals. Those limits did not apply to meals on trains, so I always looked forward to those rare occasions when I could arrange to be on a train with a restaurant when it was a meal-time.0 -
We normally buy ourselves some great food from the M&S food hall, and wash it all down with a bottle of fizz, when we travel on the Eurostar:)
I really wouldn't rely on buying anything other than a croissant or similar, if you'.really travelling on standard class.0 -
You will be far better off either eating at St Pancras before leaving or buying from various food outlets at station and taking your own food on board then just hot drinks from buffet if you must.0

like others we've always taken a fancy picnic with us, with some fizz!0

'Proper' British rail breakfast?
It's terribleness was the staple of British comics for decades.
It may have been funny but it wasn't true in my experience, although maybe they got it right towards the end rather than in the 70's when these jokes were about?
I worked IC125 Restaurants in the 90's and it was as good as anywhere 'static' if not better.
The proper Intercity breakfast layup was sold out every single day I worked the Bristol - Paddington route, we turned away people every day honestly.
It was cooked freshly onboard from all fresh ingredients, and had quite a wide range considering it had to be all cooked & served at 125mph in a strict time frame.
Unfortunately the kitchen coaches were very long and the newly privatised operators wanted to cut staff and put more seats in so the restaurants are all gone now on the GWR route anyway as far as I know.
It would have surprised me if Eurostar had anything more than microwave bacon baps to be honest, none of the privatised operators value 'service' above seat-age.0 -
Yes, I have had the "free" Standard Premier Breakfast (very nice, proper coffee included) and a takeaway breakfast from the Buffet cars in Coaches 6 and 13, also perfectly acceptable, if a little expensive. If you want the latter, queue early, as the queue will often be 15-20 minutes long an hour or so into the journey. If the difference between the Standard and Standard Premier ticket is £11 (as it often is), take the latter option.0

There's an M&S right next to the Eurostar entrance, I'd buy breakfast there!0
