Lens replacement surgery costs

I got tested for lens replacement surgery 8 years ago but I took ill and was unable to follow through with the replacement.
I know that price depends on prescription required but has anyone had replacement surgery recently that might be able to give me an idea how prices have changed in 8 years.
Laser surgery is no use for me, my eyes are too bad

Are you talking about cataract surgery? The cataract forms on your natural lens, is removed and replaced with the new lens.
Most people just accept the lens provided by their health services with a few opting for a Torik Lens because of the cost. Toriks run about 1200CDN$ with the surgery provided by the health service.0 -
I am not sure what you mean to be honest.
Do you have cataracts as above..... no price is required, the affected lens is removed on the NHS and it is replaced.
Or are you talking about private surgery.
Sorry but you shouldnt be self diagnosing. How do you know that your eyes are too bad for laser surgery, are you short sighted, long sighted.etc. etcmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

This can't be paid for by NHS as it is purely cosmetic.I am not sure what you mean to be honest.

Who said anything about self diagnosing? if you read the first line of my OP it says that I got tested 8 years ago that is how I know that lens replacement is my only option other than glasses.
Again in my OP I asked for anyone that had recently had replacement surgery to give me an idea of the price that was paid so they would know what I was talking about rather than someone guessing.0 -
I can honestly say that in over a decade of Ophthamology nursing, I've never heard of lens replacement by choice to eliminate the need for glasses.
Not saying it can't be done or shouldn't be. But never heard of it offered.0 -
OP
I know what you were talking about. When I had my eyes lasered I was on the cusp of being too myopic and needing your procedure instead. You are quite right that it is the same idea as cataract surgery, but just for cosmetic reasons.
Mine was a few years ago, but a relative got a quote last year for about £3.5k/eye I think. But that was a Moorfields consultant in central London, so certainly not the cheapest.
(they ended up having a slightly different procedure yet again due to other eye problems too, so I am not sure on the exact amounts).0 -

It is available.
While discussing my dread of future cataract surgery (thankfully mine are slow growing),my sister, who was finding contacts less tolerable as she aged, so she was having to wear her glasses more often, said she was considering lens replacement.
I mentioned this to my optician who agreed with me ,that she was insane to want to risk unnecessary surgery ,especially as she may get cataracts too, because our grandmother had them (don't know about our mother as she died young).0 -

I was quoted £4,500 for both eyes when I was tested back when at Optimax.0 -

4 weeks ago i had the private operation, the cost was £5750 with a £500 discount.
i no longer need glasses .:)0 -
I had it done about 10 years ago (sorry, not much help now).
It's a life changer and worth every penny. I'm actually considering replacing my lenses as the newer ones will now correct astigmatism.
My prescription was - 11.5 before surgery, now it's +0.25!
I was planning around £5k per eye.0 -
WOW!
I guess it's cheaper now! Nice to know!0
