Insurance issue Following Accident

Hi All,
I was recently in a car accident in which a third party drove into the back of my car. The driver gave me his insurance details and I was able to claim of his company for the repair of the vehicle and for me this was the case over.
Since then I have had a raft of calls from various companies asking if I want to claim medical compensation. I initially just dismissed this as standard ambulance chasers but the last three have given specific details of the accident, my name, the third party's name, my registration number and more so it's clear the third party insurer has passed on these details.
What can I do about this?

Ignore them?0

I have been but when it's one or two calls per day from various numbers it becomes quite alarming.0

I still get them five years after my accident.
Block each number as it comes. They’ll soon get bored. Yes they know your details. Just one of those things. There’s clearly some sort of database of accident info they can buy.0 -
Just ignore them or wind them up by stating you know nothing.0

Tell them they’ve got the wrong number0

Why do you think it’s the third party insurance that passed on details. I had my car in to large garage dealership for repairs and a man was in the waiting area with me and he was phoning people and asking about their accident and did they know they could claim for compensation. I did wonder if the garage had given him the names and numbers.0

Did you notify your own insurer? (As you were almost certainly supposed to per your insurance T&Cs). It could just as easily have been your own insurer that passed on your details.0

I got the payment via a cash in lieu and my brother repaired the car, I did report it to my current insurer so yes it could have either been them or the third party.0

I had the same after a car accident in 2012. They all seemed to have details, except seemingly the date of the accident. Some of them were extremely insistent I put in a medical claim despite suffering no injury whatsoever and despite my berating them for this being the reason insurance costs are rising so fast.
The calls dropped off significantly when I asked them to hold the line whilst I checked when the accident was, then came back and said I was delighted that they were following up the accident I had, but could I really claim for an accident I had 25 years ago in 1987? They all dropped the call sharpish after that and funnily enough never called back again.
I tried following it up with my insurer and their solicitors who handled the court case but they all denied any knowledge of giving my details to any third parties. Goodness knows how my details got to all these disreputable firms.
Consider it just another one of those irritating parts of modern life that you just have to ignore. Money grabbing shysters that they are.0 -
The simplest solution? Don't answer calls. Somebody you want to speak to will leave a message, others will be on your contact list and you can choose whether or not to answer them.0
