Water flow restrictors

We have a water flow rate restrictor fitted to the shower to reduce the cost of running showers - I was wondering whether these could damage the water pump in a boiler ?
The thing is that, surely a boiler water pump is designeed to run at a certain flow rate and pressure and suddenly blocking the pipe by 50% must put stresses on the pump that it was not designed to have ?

What boiler do you have, the shower water will not normally run off the pump unless it’s ran off a shower pump.

The boiler pump will be for the central heating circuit not the hot water / shower.

I know that - I am just wondering whether using a blocker will damage the pump ...

No, its exactly the same as turning on a tap.

    It's a different flow circuit.

If you know that why are you asking the question? The pump is for the central heating, you're asking about the water - two completely different circuits so the pump isn't being used.

You are absolutely fine. The boiler has a control mechanism which tunes it's output pressure as per the demand. Think of a scenario where you turn 3 hot taps on at a time compared to just turning 1 on. You aren't really putting a lot of pressure by adding a water blocker, it is similar to turning a tap partially on.
