car sold to a trader and trader not willing to pay

Why on earth did you give them the car before you had received funds in your account?
I run a brokerage company that puts traders and customers together and customers are told not to give the buying dealer their car until cleared funds are received in their accounts.
Only thing to do which is not messy is just take the car back and try somewhere else.0 -

Thats quite common for the "we buy your car" type outfits.

. . . Very rarely did it subsequently transpire that it had actually been "need to get rid because theres a major fault i'm not telling you about".
BUT there were people who tried it on. Most times you could pick it up when you drove the car but sometimes you did get caught.
Knew a few dealers throughout the UK, who'd he often work with if a truck or tractor unit wasn't selling, they'd swap them about a bit.
He got a call from a dealer in Ireland who had a big top-of-the-range Merc saloon in pristine condition that "Wouldn't sell" (sorry to be vague, but can't remember the model - long time ago)
He brings the car from Ireland and they take it to a Mercedes main dealer in the next town. They left it with the dealership and went and had lunch.
When they returned, the car had been given a good going over and a price was agreed.
On their drive back the conversation went:
My mate/ "so, what was wrong with it?"
Irish lad/ "Did you notice the tax disc was in the middle of the screen, under the mirror?
My mate/ "Yeah?"
Irish lad/ "You couldn't see the bullet hole could you . . . "
Lot of troubles in Ireland at the time and the car was known, as was whoever met their end in it.
Apart from one single hole in the screen, it was a minter . . .0
