Ryan Air hotel loss

Options
During recent flight wipe out in Ryan air fiasco I lost £400 in hotel reservation because I had passed my cancellation date with hotel. MasterCard sent me claim form but reading between lines not looking great. Any ideas how I can pursue my lost hotel cash?
Frustrated and angry at this loss and there must be lots of people in similar positions. This situation was never mentioned during the full fiasco.

If you paid for your airfare with a credit card, and it was over £100, some people have got their "consequential losses" reimbursed (even if the hotel was booked with a different card).

Interesting, the credit card provider doesn't need to do this, so I wouldn't expect it!

Op needs to claim on their travel insurance.
  • Travel insurance, provided your policy covers for consequential loss. Not all do.

This is from the 'Better Enforcement document'

In any event, passengers who feel that they are entitled to have more of their expenses reimbursed or to obtain compensation for damage suffered as a result of a delay, including expenses, retain the right to base their claims on the provisions of the Montreal Convention, as well as Article 3 of Regulation (EC) No 2027/97 and to pursue the air carrier through a national court procedure or address themselves to the competent national enforcement body.
