It really annoys me too! I made a precise payment that should have rounded the balance to exactly £112000 but it always knocks an extra couple of pounds off!! I don't know why!
It must be something to do with daily interest calculations but I hardly every manage to round it to whole pounds. If that makes sense?

I suppose I should be grateful for the extra bit of reduction but it drives me mad!!

  • What a lovely day off.
The sun was shining (makes a change) and DH and I completed a 6 1/4 mile hike over the big hill to one side of our valley. Phew. 1250 calories burned and 1500 promptly consumed at a local pub :rotfl:. Perhaps not that bad, we shared a starter then I had another starter as a main with a few of DH's chips.
This morning I got a load of washing on the line, another pegged out when back from our walk and the last load in the washer now (stripped the children of uniform as they walked through the door from school :rotfl:). Will hang out tonight in the hope they will be dry early-ish in the morning. Got a viewing tomorrow lunch time, agents still booking viewings in the hope it will push buyer on, although she has been working away all week, I think they're being a bit impatient.
Dinner tonight continues to be chicken :rotfl:, DH refused to eat the stew last night so children and I will finish tonight and there's a roast dinner portion in the freezer. Still a bit of sliced chicken and stuffing in the fridge, too late to freeze really so the cat might get that bit! One chicken went a very long way! :D

Tomorrow is a busy one, final clean of house, DS swimming lesson, viewing, DH out playing golf then all out at a 40th tomorrow night. Need to wash and dry the white laundry too as Sunday is forecast to rain. Will need a quiet day on Sunday anyway at this rate. Must also pick the Damsons, tried one earlier and they're so ripe they taste like plums. Need to get my brandy and gin going ready for Christmas.

    Happy Friday everyone.x

    Hey Woodfired,

just caught up on your diary after being awol for a couple of weeks yet again. Congrats on the offer and also your vendors being so understanding. Fingers crossed you get the proof of funds you need soon and you buyer bucks up a little.

I am always amazed at how creative you are with cooking and making ingredients last, as all your meals sound delish!

  • Hi Runders - good to 'see' you! Hope your new home is treating you well. Thanks for your lovely comments.x

Lucielle - line dried bedding is the BEST! Been a great weekend for that.x

Well, we are under offer, :j mortgage application underway and piles of paperwork sent off to the solicitors (following hours of turning the house upside down looking for planning permission and building regs paper work that I had 'carefully filed' in a random box in the attic!! :().

Hopefully should all go smoothly. Fingers crossed. Buyer still loves our house, she brought several friends to look round (again) on Sunday evening and we love the one we are going to, we are spending hours chatting about all of our plans for it - I'm so excited!! :D:D

I'm most looking forward to the huge utility room to house a second fridge freezer and loads of room to stock up on various things. We lack kitchen storage in current house and cupboards are always full to bursting but never with what I need at that moment!
I look forward to having space in the freezer for a pint of milk and loaf of bread etc so we don't need regular dashes to the shop.
There is space for coat/shoe storage in the utility so we will use the back door and leave all school bags and assorted junk in there and not scattered over lounge as currently happens.
I will have space for laundry baskets, for the cat bed, for my food mixers and other gadgets that are currently stored all over the house.
I'll be able to back right up to the back door in the car and open all the doors/boot to empty it without being in somebodies way.
We'll be able to store the caravan and all paraphernalia at home so it's handy to clean/load up/empty. There's even a caravan electricity point on the outside of the garage wall.
    Simple things. I can't wait. :)

  • Evening.

Work day today, 7.30 til 5 so a bit tired now. DH was home early though and had made tea, Baked Bean pizzas using tortilla wraps as a base. Yum.
DS was at Beavers tonight so I took the opportunity whilst DH was out with him (DH goes to the pub for an hours whilst he's there) to pick some damsons and make the brandy I've been meaning to start. I didn't make any last year as I froze my crop but the freezer outside packed up and they were spoiled. :(

Gosh I should have got to them sooner though, they were so ripe I could hardly get them off the tree without squashing them, and that's in spite of them practically jumping off the tree! :rotfl: I hope they make OK brandy being so ripe, I'v only ever used them slightly under ripe as I've been so impatient. :o
There are hundreds left on the trees after me processing enough for 4 litres of brandy so I'm planning to pick more and make some jam or jelly tomorrow. It will depend how easy they are to stone as to whether it becomes jelly or jam!! :rotfl:
I've also tidied and hoovered downstairs and done a load of washing that I will hang on the maiden shortly.
Ralph Cat has brought in a mini plague of fleas  so I am hoovering like a mad woman to try and eradicate them! Tried lots of different chemical treatments but none seem to be working (really deep pile carpet - might that have something to do with it?) so constant hoovering up of newly hatched adults seems to be my best bet. Cat himself seems to be free of them now, hes getting a flea tablet at the first sign of scratching so if they cant live on him I'm hoping they'll die out soon! Pet shop man says it's an awful year for them, so not just me it seems. :o
Hope everyone is well, happy Wednesday!x

  • Got fleas too had to get spray from vets helping but not clear yet and we have no carpets!! Kitty touch wood seems to be clear so fingers crossed. Plate with soapy water tea light when dark on night seems very effective in catching adults. As you get less each night feel you are winning .x

    Hi Woodfired,

New home is treating me really well thank you, had drinks in the garden with my lovely new neighbour a few days ago and I've felt right at home in the house :j Now I just need to start making an effort in the village and also do a whole house up....again :rotfl:

The house you have an offer in sounds fab! I too dream of having a drive way and utility room one day, oh and a hall entrance. Hall entrances are the dream!

Hope you manage to get the fleas under control, my Godmother's dogs keep getting them as well, seems to be a constant battle this year.
