    2nd Anniversary of my diary today!

    I have just made an over payment to bring the balance down to £107 995 :)
    So a capital reduction of £27 905 in two years! :T:T:j:beer:

    I can't quite believe that figure, I never dreamt we would be able to achieve that in two short years when I set out, i'm amazed. :D

    We have also just had another viewing this afternoon, cash buyers. Fingers crossed they liked it.x

    Paying off over £27K in 2 years is fab. So sorry to hear that your buyer fell through. That mortgage rate sounds horrific. Can your MA suggest anything or are you still waiting to hear back on the original deal?

    I think we are going to wait til the end of Jan before we do anything with the mortgage then potentially re-fix and take the house off the market. MA says unless we want to port and then increase (at a much higher rate) there isn't much else we can do.
    We looked at borrowing the whole amount required to move now but there wouldn't be enough equity left in as this house has a much lower value. This would mean we would be a much riskier proposition and we were borderline for acceptance anyway so not looking good. We will just have to swallow the next 3 months payments with a big gulp and hopefully will have a clearer idea of what to do come January. I am a bit sick though, after such low interest and paying so much off the capital each month, it's hard not to resent all that interest we're now paying! :(

  • Quite a productive week so far. I've completed, submitted and paid DH's VAT return and made a start on mine for next month, which is a first - usually done the day before!

    We have been eating lots of freezer food and leftovers this week - I really need to make a dent in the freezer as, once again, it is so full I can barely close it!

    I have withdrawn £30 cashback today from Quidc0 for car insurance in July and will pay it off the mortgage when it arrives - I'm trying to make that £27 905 capital reduction up to £28 000 before the regular payment goes out. :)

    We have another viewing on the house this aft - that's 5 since it came back on the market so must go and finish cleaning once I'm done at work then got a delivery to make for DH before picking the children up from school.
    Tomorrow we are planning a walk or swim depending on the weather and I need to pick up some pie dishes to process some apples that Dad has sent down for me (read: he gives me apples so I will provide apple pies!!) I will hopefully make them this weekend.

    Phew, just said goodbye to 5 10-year-old girls :eek:.
    DD had her friends round for a movie night, she had a blast but there is popcorn everywhere and DH and I are frazzled! :rotfl:

    Time for a glass of wine I think.

    Today has been good, 4 mile walk this morning, trip to wholesalers and then to local outdoors shop to stock up on some bits for winter including thick socks, new flask and a lovely warm coat for DS. All good deals and we're sorted for winter now. Also picked up a heavily reduced small awning for the caravan, we've been waiting for the end of season clearance sales and got it at a really good price. :)

    The EA rang around lunch, viewers yesterday loved it. Their house is on the market and had a low offer on it which they had rejected. They liked ours so much they were going to see if the offer still stood with a view to accepting so they could move on ours! Fingers crossed on that one. We also have another two viewings tomorrow, taking us up to 7 since it came back on the market. I'm keeping dream house owners in the loop in the hope they'll hold on for us!

  • 3 weeks exactly, almost to the minute, after we lost our buyer and a viewer from Saturday (cash buyer) came forward with a full asking price offer for our house! :j:j:j:j

    I can't tell you how excited I am. £5k more than previously agreed, no mortgages to hold them up and they want to be in ASAP. :T They are buying it as a holiday home as they have family in the village and may let it occasionally also. I can't believe it and was on cloud nine all day yesterday. :rotfl:

    So I have instructed MA to press ahead with valuation on dream house and spoken to solicitors who advised that they will be ready on the purchase side before December. Just depends on purchasers now to determine whether we can move before Christmas. I've got everything crossed! Potentially only one more month of paying this hideous mortgage interest is a huge bonus too! ;)

    Thanks for all of your good wishes, if somebody had told me we would potentially be in for Christmas last week I would have laughed at them. Everything happens for a reason.x
