I have an older HP 250.

The wifi on it is so bad that I have bought a USB wifi adapter.

Refurbished Thinkpad T430 with SSD and 8GB. Get one with a 1600x900 screen. You'll have a corporate grade laptop and plenty of change out of even £400.
