Hello all,
I am looking to buy a new laptop for work and personal use.
It needs to be able to handle programming in web development, and typical Excel, Office programs.
I will also use it for personal standard stuff like browsing the web, watching occasional videos etc. I am not that fussed about super great resolutions etc as long as the videos, graphics can be good for a normal person.
Any suggestions please for less than £600?

Dell list an "Inspiron 17 5000" on their website with 8GB RAM for £529. I recently bought one, and it's quite suitable for development work, although the non-SSD disk drive does impact performance a bit. If I bought again, I'd probably buy one with an SSD.0

Haven't looked very hard but I suggest min specs of 256GB SSD and FHD screen to go with the 8GB RAM and reasonable cpu.
e.g1. Dell Vostro. https://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/-29h4g/version.aspIf you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
Thanks guys
I found this:

I can upgrade from Windows Home to Pro so it's not a problem.

Good shout. Thanks that's a good idea.
Are laptopsdirect and DebenhamsPlus reliable? With DebenhamsPlus it seems to be owned by another company.
EDIT:
Any suggestions on this one?

Get i5-8250u if you have money. It is quad core CPU. It is faster than 7th gen i7-7600u
