Buying Brand New Car Qs - Scrappage scheme & Car in partners name
Comments
-
I am going to look at all the options for using my current car for scrappage before I look to purchase through other means.
I am in no rush to buy as I don't need a car so if no suitable scrappage deal comes up I will wait to find a really good deal on PCP or a near new car.
My current car is a Toyota Aygo and I'm primarily looking to pay cash if doing a scrappage deal0 -
The point of scrappage schemes is that many are manufacturer backed so available on top of the dealer margin. In that case it makes no odds to the dealer, they will want to maximise their profit, but will be up for negotiation.
Some scrappage schemes may be constructed so that the dealer also has to make a contribution to get up to the headline figure - that will not be negotiable.
In the end, the dealer may try and cover themselves with a "not available in conjunction with any other offer". However, they have to be careful, because a £4000 discount is not a £4000 discount if you can readily buy the car at a significantly lesser price and they'd run into ASA issues if a freely negotiated discount (as opposed to finance incentive) disappeared.0
