    M&S aren't stupid
they know a certain percentage will return the £35 worth of goods whatever
they know that some will buy intending to return but won't because they can't be bothered/forget or decide they like the item they were originally going to return
they know that some (I guess most) buy £35 worth of stuff to keep, a fair percentage of them would must likely spend the £35 anyway as they are regular M&S shoppers.

You can be sure that they are also making a profit on the cost of the calendar, maybe not as much they make on other goods but they certainly will not be selling it a a loss.

This forum hasn't half changed over the years. Getting goods cheaply through computer glitches etc was the ethos of the Grabbit board, especially the many Body Shop glitches. M and S could stipulate that the calendar should be returned if the £35 worth of goods are but they haven't done that. The offer will encourage more people to visit their shops/website and so up their sales. So really it is an advertising technique.

Plus, as was said before, a fewpeople returning the goods won't make a huge dint in their profits

This is currently not showing as available online (available in store 9 Nov), & I haven't had a waiting list email yet.
However, it is available to order online through the M&S app if anyone is as desperate as me ;)
  • Despite planning for the best beauty calendar for me as a treat, I have also now bought this as am still using some of the things from last year now I know what they do!

I have ordered one too, though goodness knows why! I expect I will be giving much of it away to my daughter and daughter in law. I was buying some of their adorable little Paddington Bear tree ornaments (one for each of my grandchildren, three for me or to gift to neighbours, not sure. So, I have spent an extra £35 now but I suppose I could return it if I change my mind. I will be keeping the other stuff I ordered so, kind of, the opposite from some other people who might keep the calendar and return the items.

Oh, I don't know, I'll wait and see what it looks like before I decide.

I'd love an advent calendar, last year I bought the M&S beauty calendar and I had hoped to buy again this year, but nothing in the line up looks any different from last year- ok so maybe one or two items but most look like last year's version. Has anyone feeling the same way found another calendar to take the place of this one? I know most are sold out by now but I thought I'd ask just in case.

I'm to collect mine today but will take a look at it in store then decide whether or not I'll take it home.
