Gonna get myself to a store for it :)

I think if the calendar were free, it would be morally wrong to keep it, even if they allowed you to. But, you are buying it, albeit at a reduced rate. I don't know how long they've been selling these and, I suppose, if M&S feel that the offer is being abused, they may change the terms of the offer.

I think it's a bit off returning the item you bought to get the offer. I hope they do change the terms of the offer to stop people doing this. So there!
  • I sometimes despair at peoples attitudes on MSE.

MSE is Money SAVING Expert not Money SPENDING Expert - I don't need any help on the latter as I'm already a member!

Marks and Spencer made £176m pre-tax profits last year and this was only because they had several one-off restructuring costs, else it was a trading profit of over £613m !!

Now can we all please stop feeling sorry for them, and make the best use of a decent offer.

If you look on last years posts both here and on another well known Hot UK Deals site you will see the many comments on how to make best use of this offer. Now last year you cold buy gifts, this year it has to be in the home or clothing category, a much narrower line when it comes to Xmas, this in my opinion is M&S profiteering, it's not particularly for the good of the customer is it.

What isn't good for the customer is people abusing offers - which inevitably leads to increased prices, less good offers and/or tighter restrictions on how the offers operate - exactly as you have pointed out in your own post.
  • I received it last year as a Christmas present and was impressed.

Not sure if to buy my own this year as £70 is a lot to spend. I wouldn't risk just buying something for £35 and taking it back just in case they refuse to accept and I am stuck with it,

Son does need a new winter cost so I could get that from M&S but that still means spending more on a coat than I would do normally.
