I've got lists for each 'set' of gifts - work colleagues, school staff from the kids, friends with gifts to post and friends/family we'll see in December.

Also have food lists for each 'visit' and larger meal (xmas eve, xmas day and boxing day with family etc.) and have started prepping sugar cooking dough etc. in the freezer to bake on days when people drop in.

Gift wise I've ordered some gifts online and they should arrive by the end of the week. Big/final/only (we hope!) shop is happening the Sunday. I have noted each thing I'll buy and the order I'll pass the shops (freakishly planned to avoid time wasting as I'd rather enjoy a weekend with the family than shopping alone)...I know there'll be 1 trip back to the car mid-shop as I have quite a bit to get and 3 of the presents for the kids are bulky.

My big annual Christmas gift shopping day has been a long time coming...I realised over the years when I was a new mum that I hated 'losing' December to several crowded and stressful shopping days when I just wanted to embrace the season and enjoy the Christmas tree and joy that is at home with my family. The day is always in November and I'm a Mum on a mission. :rotfl: To stop it becoming stressful in itself, I stop in one of my favourite coffee shops (started as a one-lady-band but is now established and has 3 or 4 other staff too). This place has the best coffee, and for my Christmas shop I always throw in a pecan slice as a treat. For energy, obviously. :D

This post makes me sound very anti social. Hehe...but there is a reason we live in the woods. :o

    Happy preparations all. x :T

So far I know the date.
I'll sort out the details in the 2-3 days before that date.
I've nobody really to worry about except myself.
2 cards to send.... that's it.

I'm now pretty much finished, ordered the last of my gift shopping this morning , will grab a box of pigs in blankets and some meat for stuffing when I'm out later that will cover the normal roast extras and a Christmas pud and we are pretty much good to go. We've simplified the whole thing over the years to make the most of a day off together as a family as that becoming more of a rarity nowadays with everyone working different hours/days.

I've got Pork (on offer in Costco), turkey crown (voucher left from £75 worth last Christmas) chocolates, biscuits, Christmas pudding from last year, been out for PJs and sweaters for the grandchildren this morning (spending my sealed pot stash!), some other bits and pieces for them, adults are getting money. Cards and wrapping paper are all bought. I'm more organised than I thought!

  • I started getting presents back in July....buying things in sales etc. I also add one xmas food item to my weekly shop from September..so have a good stash of biscuits, choccies snacks etc. The big food shop will be delivered by tesco in the week before. So really just my son left to buy for and to write cards and to wrap everything... I like to enjoy December without feeling the xmas stress....so usually get prepared well in advance.............x:

  • I'm nearly finished my Christmas shopping, only the in laws to buy for. Also have the Christmas chocolates, selection boxes (well hidden from Hubby) and the Christmas wine bought. I usually have everything in bar the fresh stuff by the end of November. I love Christmas but I can't stand the shops in December it's just chaos and stresses me out

I have just baked my Xmas cakes today, a bit late, but better late than never.
I have the wine, choc biscuits and a Xmas pudding stashed away. Leftover (from Halloween ) ready to cook sausage rolls, some sausage meat and some sliced garlic bread in the freezer. I'm trying to empty it to accommodate the turkey, pork and gammon joints and a few bits of "party" food.
My DGD presents are done and most of my DD's themed hamper is finished. I have to concentrate on DGS next week as I have only bought one present so far. DSIL will have mainly money and my DD is helping me sort out my DH.I have no idea what to get my Dad as he's 88 and has everything he wants/ needs. Also have to sort out DD's birthday gifts for Dec too.
I think I have wrapping paper, serviettes, cards and crackers left over from last year. I must remember to check on that.
We are looking to change our Xmas tree too, as the one we have is getting too heavy and it takes the two of us to get it up and down the stairs now :(
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently

Bought another box of chocolate covered stollen from Aldi, they were opened within an hour of getting home. I have tidied out my cupboards and freezer and am determined to get rid of some of the food and then get some Christmas food in. Must menu plan better and not buy anything I don't need.

Just thinking about what Jil said; yea it’s a great time of the year to get rid of all those bits and pieces lurking in the cupboards and freezer that’ll will never be used
