This thread isn't your personal advertising forum..... and Kleeneze doesn't qualify as a 'cottage industry.0 -
I didnt specifically consider the thread as my own advertising forum, i read through lots of other reply's and thought i'd add my story, thats all
No offence intended i assure you - some people may be interested in learning about what we have to offer, surely if they choose to, that is their right?0 -
Yes, of course it is their right to do that.
And it is your right to advertise what you do.
But it is not your right to advertise what you do here.0 -
I paint canvases of "Famous" people. I get high res photos online and create Photoshop templates which I print off in quarters, tape together and use together with my own tested techniques for getting the image on the primed canvas.
Then I spend between 4 and 8 hours gingerly painting the images. They look great but again, what people are willing to pay is not only insulting but means I make next to NO profit. The longer they take the less my hourly "wage" is if you look at it that way.
This sort of thing is about finding clientele in a niche who appreciate what you do and have the money. For that reason narrowing down my subject matter is important.
I have done some complex Marilyn Monroe paintings on 16 x 20" canvas and a few local boutique shops are interested. As I say, it takes time and should be considered a side gig when things are slow on other fronts.
I have considered eBay but the listing fees get silly, plus you need to charge a decent amount for P & P and wrap the thing well. I have yet to ship via eBay until I've tested the various options.0 -

What if, for example, a faulty circuit on your electrics blew up their sewing machine? Or if they slipped on a wet patch on a tiled floor and broke their hip? Or, etc, etc, etc.
I don't think it is too expensive, though.
Personally with anything like this I have found the hardest thing to be finding customers.0 -

Why don't you send them a private message then you can't be accused of using the site for selling?0 -

Because of this ruleWhy can't I give something to/buy something from someone on the forum?
The safety of our forum users is paramount. For this reason, we can't allow anyone to exchange their personal details either on the open forum or via private message, however honourable the intention.
This means we don't allow selling, trading, exchanging, or swapping, or giving gifts. Nor do we permit links to your eBay auctions, or other forms of advertising.0
