good morning Techie advise needed I have bt broadband but I use aol emails(my old provider) I have received message from aol stating that they will be discontinuing AIM has any one else received this message and if so does it mean I will not be able use an aol email address any help appreciatedbraveheart60uk wrote: »Quite a lot of providers do this, another way to try and blackmail you into staying with them. Unsure if AOL allow you to keep it for a certaim length of time or not.
Best thing to do is get a free provider google/hotmail etc.
if your email at AOL is something like
thisismyemailaddress@aol.com
try checking to see if free provider has a similar one free
thisismyemailaddress@freeprovider.com
easier to remember and easier for others to change their address book to.
PS best to have a very private addy and a public one, helps keep junkmail down on "real" email address.
I was going to advise the same - I broke free years ago when I realised I would lose my email address when changing internet provider (or they could come up with a charge to keep it). I switched to Gmail as my main email account and I was then free to walk away if required from V1rgin. I also took the Oporto out to undubscribe from mailing lists. It took a little effort to login to banks, utilities etc to change the email address but it didn’t really take that long.
As it happens, my old NTL email is still live as I have negotiated well each year .

With kids like ours we had to, put out food, blink, it was gone
It is wonderful now the kids have left home, I can put things in the fridge and they are still there when I come back from being out for 2 minutes :rotfl::rotfl:What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
