Do you have Malwarebytes? If so run it, if not download and run this (free version is plenty).
https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/ (removes any adware)
If it is still slow after that, download and run this (again, free version)
https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download (removes stuff you don't need)
And a quick scan with your antivirus wouldn't go amiss.
You may well need to reboot to see any difference.
Of course, depending on the age of your computer, it could just be creaking into old age!
Thank you enterprise, just ran the first 2 on DH’s Desktop as that is running rather slow and also only a little over a year old. Currently doing a full scan with Norton now

Does look a bit tatty! Have to admit something from Amazon came with just an address label on it for me, but it was a freebie, and something that no one would be interested in nicking (vacuum bags, the ones that you used to shrink wrap things)
I wouldn't of minded if the box had had closure seals, but it has all come out & then been shoved back in again - do I put the track together to see if it is complete?
It is a gift. What happens if I can't take it apart again?

Why not lay it out, not put it together, just lay it out with gaps between the pieces. You do need to know if it is all there. Personally i would be telling them it was a gift, really is not good enough. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
