I have a MiL who has given free childcare to Sil while the nephews were growing up, but has not even babysat our children overnight  Of course she is adamant she has no favourites and treats all her Grandchildren the same. :rotfl:
Re: seatbelts.......I do ‘meet and greet’ for the children dropped off by parents, at the school Where I work. I am constantly reminding parents it is a fine for not using a seatbelt, and small children need to have a car seat or booster seat............one child arrived next day sitting on a cushion on the back seat. Still no seatbelt

Thanks for the birthday wishes, although it was a horrible day. Dad had a bad attack yesterday while on the toilet, he couldnt breathe and the oxygen just wasnt getting through fast enough for him, he is only 65 so young to be struggling with his breathing but this disease he has (the same one Katie Prices mum has been diagnosed with), is really progressing.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
I don't feel im doing anymore than anyone would do in the same situation...
to be honest in the evening its quite pleasant to sit on the balcony albeit small and people watch... they are on a main pedestrian thoroughfare from the tube station, with a coffee or glass of wine. I certainly wouldn't be doing that in my own home, and although I have the 2 boys all day I don't have any household stress or jobs to do. so I feel I have the best of both worlds.
I just have to bite my tongue and people watch far more than I would like, but heyho the gds make up for that:)
no I didn't have any help from anyone when my children were young, but unlike many parents today I was a stay at home mum, and had a little evening job to help out with the money situation
We live about 280 miles from DS and his family, so haven't done as much babysitting as I would have liked, but like you I loved going down to look after the girls when their mam and dad were at work - we could have fun and as you say little or no housework! DiL is great so only a few occasions when I had to bite my tongue!
Things are changing and now DGD1 is 14 and planning a train trip up here with 2 of her friends - I must have been doing something right! (best check Virgin Trains for deals!). They want to go shopping when they get here.
I had loads of help from my mam when our son was young, but little or no contact from my MiL0 -

My grandkids have started telling their parents now if they have something they "shouldn't"
Just the wrong age with dgs being 8!
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
