I am now in full panic mode ! My passport expires in April and I was going to renew it after I get back from holiday in September (after the summer rush). Just realised that DH talked me into booking Sri Lanka early November and I will need a new passport before then (6 month validity) Also need 6 month validity to apply for a visa.

I reckon I have 30 days to get a new one if I get it done on Monday - if I can even find a photographer as they all seem to have shut down near me. I can't afford any errors so I need to do it via the PO check and send thing - so I will have to plead with them on Monday as they insist on an appointment system now.

My brain tells me 30 days is plenty of time but I am still in panic mode ! Its worrying me that summer months are a busy time so may cause delays.

    Afternoon all.

    Raining here :(

Had a right journey yesterday, got caught up in the chaos that was the east coast line when the signalling box was struck by lightning, never been on a train so packing in my life. Was utter madness, and didnt even manage to get my free drinks for being in 1st class as they could not even walk down the isle, never mind get a trolley down. Fortunately I had sent my cases up separately, or I would not have managed to get on the train. Bless, there was one family near me that had traveled all the way from Australia as his dad was ill and he wanted to see him one last time, but he passed away while the poor bloke was stuck on the train :(

Well jealous of these sofa orders, I am meant to be moving in about 3 weeks time, so would have been well handy, but no where to store it until then so could not partake.

Renew it online, use your phone to take the pic, and turn-around time is about a week/week and a half, well it was a month ago.

Is your photo desperately out of date?

    Can you renew online? https://www.gov.uk/apply-renew-passport

The photo is 10 years old so I do need a new one. As I can't afford any mistakes I really think it would be best to use the PO method - at least I will be certain that the application etc gets there. I am wary of the online method incase of problems/delays.

Surely 30 days should be long enough ? I need a stiff drink.
