Morning all
Well I for one relish savvys middle of the night postings, a meaty chewy essay that gives you something to ponder while you drink your morning brew.
The one concerning how to spend £1.50 on ice lollies is very relevant. You would have thought every womble would have ice cream but apparently not.
Angel Delight type desserts - well they do have their place if your budget is limited and they are useful for using up milk bottle dregs.
but they have so many chemicals in them that I never buy them. I bought a few when Sainsburys had them reduced to clear but I could not bring myself to use them. I think eventually they all went into a food bank collection.
Which is another stage we are at again. I am checking the dates again on store cupboard packets and tins and trying to access their usefullness - if its things we are likely to use ourselves within the time. Errant son is only going to be around now while he is on leave - August/September and maybe Christmas so we cant rely on him to finish up storecupboard excesses. IT still has to look like a full to bursting selection though and not things that were hanging around when he was last here ....
So quite a few food bank bags are being filled.“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

Used to live near a forest, worked actually on the forest for 5 years. Saw a lot of fires, very rarely does the healthy wildlife get caught in a fire but it may well catch out a few old or and sick ones. Fire is nature's cleaner, in a few months time the growth will come back stronger than ever, any trees affected will take a bit longer obviously, but a lot of the bigger trees survive fires. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

I have to disagree I think it will take years to recover. It's not a forest fire and whilst the adult birds will have been able to escape the fledglings won't and there are a few ground nesting birds up there, the short eared owl, meadow piping, curlew but its all the voles, frogs, worms etc that will have a knock on effect on the birds of prey that feed on them.0 -
