Anyway to cut a long story short he received a letter today that means he won’t be able to join although he actually has no symptoms from his heart problem he is at risk of SADS xOne cannot change the past, but one can ruin the present by worrying over the future.0 -
My DS1 took 16 months to find a job, after graduating with a Masters. Even with that, firms want experience....
DS2 is still looking, 19 months after graduating.
I wish your DS well Marmie, hope he does get a job offer. And kudos to him, for wanting to wear his suit for the Skype interview.marmitelovemehateme wrote: »He has been abroad a couple of times working for charities...Once to Germany and to Nigeria for 3 months stints. He loved it.......He has a degree in International BusinessSunshinemummy wrote: »Has he put his cv on the employment sites on the internet?
DS1's degree is in outdoor activity business management i.e. he kayaked and climbed for 3 years and only occasionally put pen to paper. He put his cv on the internet and got a fabulous job which he took, he has moved jobs several times and now runs a rich guys 'far eastern interests' including hotels, rental properties, property development and several large charities (I say runs - he flounces around in a suit). He has had the luck of the gypsies, I swear if he fell in poo he would come out smelling of roses....but you do have to be in it to win it. It maybe worth you lad popping his CV on the internet.:D:D:D:D
It is so hard getting that first job.
Both my boys made an effort to get internships/ work placements during the uni holidays and that meant the cv at least showed some experience.
DS1 had to do a 6 week internship (ie work for free and even had to pay for travel etc) followed by a 3 month apprentice rate job before getting the first job. Took about a year before he had anything like a graduate first rung job.
DS2 was a bit luckier and managed to get his first proper job after 3 months applying. It's turned out to have no prospects, so he's moving on to a graduate training scheme in September. Effectively starting again but hopefully it will be worth it.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Has anyone got any suggestions for accommodation in Singapore - Air bnb appears to be about the same price as a reasonable for Singapore priced hotel.... I need to pay for 3 rooms which is coming back a fortune!

I have a Fitbit One, which does not have a wriststrap but is in a little holder with a clip, which you can clip to your bra or your waistband. Or just keep it in your jeanspocket, which is what I do
. I aim for 10,000 steps a day, walking the dog helps!
Do be careful tho, it is so easy to leave it in pocket; my sister ruined hers by washing it. And DH managed to leave his one behind in a tray at security at the airport, as it is so small. HTHS.
